There Must Be Some Other UK People?

as wild indicates, i never trade in the lead up to important economic news, and i personally always give a little space afterward to see if a well defined trend appears - normally i trade right on the trend change - but not after news which affects the market too much as there is then too much second guessing and therefore noise by the various combatants

i have no interest in news otherwise since the market tells me when good or bad news has come in by its movement

I think that is one of the best TA statements I have ever heard. If I could rec it I would. Instead I'll copy it and stick it on my board :)

Well put steve.. last time I was in a stock leading up to the last fed non event I was really intending to be out well before the non announcement (short) .. lol to my regret the damn thing (nyse) neither stopped me out nor made me a gain.. 2 1/2 hrs later and 5 mins before the moment it suddenly jumped like 50c and stopped me out.. nasty action.. then spent the rest of the day falling over a dollar.. ouch and damn and other stuff..

yeah well I know.. goes with the terrority.. but I really did not wanna play that time and sure will not make that particular mistake again

Posted on another thread, but thought some here might be interested:

I think (but not too sure) that it was on the Keeping it Simple thread that there was a discussion about whether or not Traders add anything of value to society. Quite a few people wisely said that it's what you do with the money (& not how you make it) that matters. I agree.

I'm in the UK, and about ten days ago there was this story on GMTV about a charity that brought a couple and their cojoined (siamese) twins from Malaysia to see if they could be seperated.

Well, on Saturday morning I was watching Sky News, and a news report said that after investigations, medical experts believe there is an 80% chance of successfully operating on them. All the medical staff have agreed to offer their services free, but £100, 000 (I think) is still needed for the cost of equipment, drugs and after care. The couple cannot afford this and the charity has started an appeal on their behalf.

I remebered the discussion on ET, & thought that I'd bring it to the attention of other ETers. This is a real opportunity to make a lasting difference to two young lives and that of their family!!!

You can find out more at: www.gmtv.co.uk/index.cfm?Articleid=4764

The charity is H.A.P.E.E (Humanitarian Aid Project for Eastern Europe). Unfortunately, they do not accept credit cards, but do take cheques. They don't have a web-site yet, but should have one setup by next week (www.hapee.co.uk).

Their contact details are:

Just a quick thank-you to Stevet, without your bluntness re Spreadbets I wouldn't have had the bottle to open my IB account. Thank you. I needed the push.

ok, great, speadbetting can only ever be gambling for kicks

dont forget that even in futures, luck gives you the winners, but skill cuts the losers immediatley

any market that breaks down from your entry level is telling you that you got the entry wrong

all the best - and the estoxx50 is as good as any to trade, but it is a US shadow in the afternoon, so if u make bucks fast in the afternoon, remember you will lose them even faster

Just wanted to add myself to the list of UK traders lurking this board. Based SW Herts.

Yes, Steve I am still around!!!

My background has mostly been futures on both side of the pond. But last month I attended a professional stock trading seminar by Echotrade in Las Vegas. I also went back to their office in San Diego and watched them practice what they were preaching.

As a result I am gearing up to daytrade NYSE stocks at the mo.
