Yes I'd say without proper hazmat gear, doctors have a duty to stay alive to protect others.
If this was 50% then this madness and FEAR would be justified.
For all you guys who think this is nothing that bad, I wish we could split the city you live in into two pieces. Those who want to carry on like normal may do so, but full well knowing that if they run into trouble there won't be any help. You can go out to dine, go out to shop, go to a concert and have a good time, but if you fall ill, you're on your own. If you happen to fall on your face and break your arm, you're also on your own because the local hospital will have no space for you. If you get into a car accident, that may not even be your fault, you're own your own, and if you happen to get syphilis from fucking random girls at the concert, you're also out of luck with regards to getting your antibiotics.
The other half of the city might live in isolation for a few months, but they will know that if they do fall ill, the medical staff will do their best to help them, no matter how stretched thin the resources might be.

All those big businesses want less regulation, free to do what they want, praise the merits of capitalism, always vote for republicans to give them freedom, but the minute they fuck-up, buy back all their shares and run out of cash, they want to run to the government for a bailout. Can't have it both ways.

Good point. These narcissists feel it's wrong to spend money on the sick elderly because they will die anyway, but when it comes to their own well-being, they cry like little babies when government isn't doing enough.

What was the mortality rate? 0.02% It was near normal flu level just it was unusual in that younger people in their prime were more vulnerable. Also the right wing media is blasting out that things were" totally chill" with swine flu, rubbish, it was highly disruptive but not at the level of this because of the fatality rate. People kind of forget that surviving with massive lung damage from Covid-19 fibrosis sucks. They depend on doddering old fellas who can't remember breakfast and can be given new lies after the old lies become inconvenient. So no matter what you say, old guys will come back reprogrammed with more nonsense to knock down a couple of days later. There is a reason human life expectancy was 45 for so long, past that the devil could make use of fox news
Also H1N1 was not new as such, 30 percent of over 60s had antibodies for it from an earlier cousin. 80 percent of the deaths were people under 65.

1) How did you find out that this virus is dangerous?
2) What was the mortality rate and the number of people who died last year from respiratory infectious diseases? How about the year before that?
3) In which population was the mortality rate we see everyday measured from? You will see a vastly different rate if you measure in the intensive care unit as compared to people who see their family physician for example.
4) The mortality rate in Italy is high, but what was it previous years?
When this panic has subsided in 2-4 weeks, I certainly hope these people will get fired for incompetence: Anthony S. Fauci, M.D., NIAID Director. and
World Health Organization Chief Tedros Ghebreyesus. I hope they also will be charged for shouting fire in a crowded theater but unlikely.

Like transplant wait list, they will establish a protocol to decide who has priority, then adhere to it and treat as many as they can handle.
Actually flu likes warm climate. In tropical climate, flu is thriving all year round. Flu thrives there because of high humidity that the warm climate brought.
Now many areas in those places like Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Philippine, Colombia, Indonesia, Venezuela are locked down due the rapid spreading of the coronavirus.
Probably India will be the next. They have already shut down their railroad transit system.
