The worst part about trading...

Now, I was positive that I lived in the lightning capitol, at
least according to the news. Lake County in FL, about 30
miles directly north of WDW.....

.....so the worse thing about trading is when your computer
gets struck by lightning 2 times in 10 days !!!!!!!! Losing your
cable, cable modem, ethernet card (both times) AND your
hard drive!!!! Then Gateway sending you a friggen CD ROM
instead of the much awaited hard drive. 7 days AFTER getting
hit, just getting back online to realize you missed a "textbook"
tradeable bottom in the market !!!!!!!!!!

What a great illustration! That is so funny. It sounds as if no one was hurt, praise the Lord.

I, too have been very close to a lightning strike and frenzied motion is exactly what you do!

:D :D :D
.
Since everyone's time does have to come eventually you gotta admit that would be a beautiful way to "close your positions".:)

The "textbook" trades all happen when you're away from the market, whatever the cause. Look at nitro, poor guy goes to Subway for a little chow, and boom, there's a rally.

Did you read the article in Active Magazine about (forgot the name) trader who doesn't even have an Internet connection, doesn't subscribe to anything (does his research in library, uses proprietary software). Of course he is a position trader (on the long side only!!!) and makes a living? Actually that's how trading was done up to 10 years ago.

well, that's how I started. Trading commodities off paper charts with a telephone.

I just plucked out my right eye and cast it out the window. But it
freaked out both of my kids. What should I do now?...

That's a good question. Obviously it's better to not sin than to pluck out your eye, wouldn't you agree?

To me the worst thing about trading is staying focused and motivated during the doldrums. Once you lose your concentration due to this an opportunity will arise and will be missed.

How does everyone else work through this?

Yeah. Many times I've reviewed the charts in the evening and seen one of my high % setups that I didn't see at the time. Could kick myself. Gotta watch out for the eyes glazing over syndrome.
