The "war on Terror"

Quote from nutmeg:

Years ago my boss got a bomb threat, he told the caller fuck you and hung up. The guy calls back and then instead of asking for the boss just told whoever answered the phone that a bomb was going to go off at 11;30. The employee then told the boss about the bomb threat call. It was weird watching the clock but nothing happened. We just kept working.
Your boss probably recognized the voice on the phone as his pissed off son who was mad that he got grounded or something. :D

A big chunk of that 17 trillion $s debt was because of the poor reaction to 911.
But if you elect people like Bush then it's all too likely. Another near fatal flaw in democracy.
I am amazed that many Americans like to portray themselves as the rebellious under-dogs. Well true enough 200+ years ago, but now ? Hardly. The rest of the world see them as the big Capitalist, right wing bully.
If Bush was still in charge the US would be in Syria getting shot at by both sides. As it is they should be glad that a lot of " opposition " fighters are involved as many of them are just branches of Al Quaeda. Don't listen to that UK idiot Cameron who wants to waste more billions in arming the " opposition ".

They made it sound like just shooting people at random or opportunity.

I just figured hell If I didn't get sniped unlocking the door to get in, why would I worry about leaving? (my bigger concern was we were located next to the post office, ya never know about them, I guess it could be worse their could be a mosque).

What? We should have just sat on our hands after 9/11? Don't be ignorant. The only flaw in Bush's plan was feeling responsible for nation building. And what of Bill Clinton's anemic response to the first WTC bombing and Cole bombing leaving the terrorists emboldened to try it again?

Obama showed you how to waste trillions of dollars with nothing to show for it. Most of it wound up in the pockets of political allies like All Gore, et al.
But if you elect people like Bush then it's all too likely. Another near fatal flaw in democracy.
Fatal flaw, huh. The fatal flaw seems to be the election of Barrack Obama and his collusion in the destruction of our monetary base along with as many parts of the country as he can manage.

I don't see what you are talking about. I don't think we see ourselves as an underdog on the world stage. A gullible good guy would be more accurate.

More misinformed thinking on your part. I doubt Bush or Cheney would want to be involved in this conflict. The only thing they may have done was used air strikes to destroy the chemical weapons and chemical plants which we had to let Israel do on a limited basis do to our current inept community organizer president not thinking straight.

Yea, it reminds me of the dumbass mayor of Boston announcing during the manhunt for tsarnaev, that "terrorism will never change our way of life".. while the whole city was on lockdown. LOL

Good post! And watching Fox, the cops were literally going house to house, searching ALL of them for the little terror bastard. If I had been living there, I would have told them,"no way in hell are you searching my place. If he were here, his dead ass would be laying on the deck at your feet." I was stunned to see how fast a police state could go into effect, and even more stunned to see the sheep allow it. :(

they probably figured if you were still in the building then a bomb was not going to go off...

I was asked what I would have done if it had been my hood (which consists mostly of farms). I said "I wouldn’t have answered the door or even acknowledge I was in my residence." If they kicked it in without knowing anyone was home to conduct an unwarranted (no legal warrant) search; that's a different story...

Of course, where I live, our local LE know residents would take care of business and protect their own from a fugitive, and such an event such as house to house is extremely unlikely by LE. One of my neighbors is a high ranking individual in the sheriff’s dept., and one of the nicest guys I've met.

Sounds like you live in a common sense area.
