Uh, he only banned the m885 armour piercing ammo.
You can still buy all the .223 and 5.56 ammo you want, just not the green tipped steel.

Green tip has a steel core. It was designed that way to pack more punch down range. It is not armor piercing, although pretty much any center fire rifle round will penetrate soft body armor.

Obama's actions are the equivalent of regulatory vandalism. They probably will be overturned in court, just as his illegal immigration amnesty was. In the interim however, they impose their will on us, and our supposedly republican House and Senate sit idly by and conspire as to how they can fund Obma's amnesty.
