The War On Paper Currency Officially Begins: ECB Ends Production/Issuance Of EU500 Bill

I have to pay the "vig" how exactly? There's not many places anywhere near where I want to be that you pay less in cash than putting it on a card. I maximize reward cards and never carry a balance, so I get back more from the cc companies than the merchant pays in merchant fees. Essentially you pay the same price in cash as I pay on my card 99% of the time and I get cash back that averages just under 2%. You're subsidizing me my friend, it's you who's paying the "vig" if anyone is.
You are the exception, so long as you do what the great majority don't, who are ahead.

But it is your - never pay cash fellow cardholders - who are subsidizing you.

Same as those who play the lottery. "Gladly" paying the gubmint an additional tax.

Regardless of your subjective judgment about whether it's good or bad, cashless is the future.

Sweden, as well as other Scandi countries, Switzerland, Netherlands, Singapore etc are well on their way there. It's all very Platonic, really, if you think about it.

Just like TV did not completely make Radio obsolete, nor Cable or Satellite TV make Broadcast TV obsolete, nor the Internet make ......

I hope you see what I am getting at?

And no if you really think about its not Platonic, its Orwellian.

Well, maybe you're right... On the other hand, colour TVs did make black 'n white TVs completely obsolete; LCD etc screens have completely replaced CRT....

I hope you see what I am getting at as well?

And no, I insist. If I really really really think about it, it is quite Platonic.
