The War on Christianity

Quote from stockerup:

smilingsynic, I have to respect you for going deeper in your thinking than many here at ET seem to do; but trying to explain the creation of God is just far too deep for me or, for that matter, anyone.
Ah yes, but the skies opening up and a 24-eyed goat coming down and angels with trumpets and the earth opening up and a lake of fire and brimstone and me burning in hell everlasting because I didn't accept Jesus Christ as my saviour...that's not too deep.

Asking a simple question which is obvious to anyone listening to a believer talk about the god delusion is too deep, but a 24-eyed goat descending from the skies isn't.

Carry on, Christian solider.

I think you might want to read things a little closer for details-- especially the goat part, but nothing about suffering the consequences of eternal damnation in hell for rejecting God is too deep to understand. In fact, it is extremely simple.

( John 3:16)

16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Lots of disciples don't follow the teachings of their Master...

Quote from TraderZones:

Funny then, why did people like the apostle Paul and the prophet John the Baptist give such searing defenses. John called the Jewish leadership "a brood of vipers" and "who told you that you could escape the coming destruction" among other strong language.

Turn the other cheek referred to a proper reaction against abusive or cruel behavior, such as if someone forces you to walk one mile, then walk two miles.

You obviously are extremely misinterpreting the teaching.

Jesus said many times that Christians are supposed to speak out for the gospel. And they do so many times.

Why do you think his disciples counted it as a great honor because they spoke up in his name and even were beaten for it??

Your example and usage is very incorrect. Just because you think it means something does not mean you understand it.

I am misinterpreting "the teaching?"

You have your belief, I have mine.

"The teaching."

That always cracks me up...as if somehow the vanity that is continually denounced in Christianity as wrong, manifests itself in a position of knowing "The teaching" and that others are wrong simply because they have a different take on the same words...

If only Christians would focus on their own flaws and their own sins, and work only on their own problems and increase their own love for God, the world would be such a better place to live...

Quote from smilingsynic:

I said HAS to be a Santa Claus. Of course St. Nick was a real person, but is now dead.

But that was not all you said my friend. You also asked and were given a factual answer to your question.

Quote from smilingsynic:

If there is not Santa Claus, where did the original concept of Santa Claus come from?"

Ho ho ho

:)

You are the one that gave an interpretation on something you obviously did not understand.

When you give your opinion on a "nuclear physics" book and obviously do not understand what you are talking about, then your opinion is unmerited

Your opinion hear about "turning the other cheek" is obviously based on your own opinion, but it is completely orthogonal to the point made at that point in scripture and throughout the rest. It had nothing to do with what you were trying to say. Any basic student in christian theology or who has read it more carefully than you knows you are incorrect.

Your continuing defense of your obviously flawed opinion is rather sad. All your are doing, is shanking your punts.

Who do you think you are impressing?

Why don't you read it carefully before rendering an uninformed opinion???

You're actually making a very simple but disastrous mistake. The Christian God is the wrong god. You have to realize that our God is the one that you need to accept, not the Christian God.

Until you accept our God, you will be in danger of suffering eternal damnation in Halivel.

Amorinius 3:12

"Ye who have faith in false prophets beware, for Ematineph is the only God, the One God, the God of Gods. Accept her and your death will be an end to suffering. Reject her and you shall burn in Halivel for eternity."

It's amazing that you cannot understand such a simple concept.
