The Last Step
When a great crisis happens in your life -- you become bankrupt, or your wife leaves you, or your husband leaves you, your children go, you are doing well at work and suddenly you are fired, and you are demolished -- in English we have this expression, we say: the bottom has fallen out of my life. I am still there, but the bottom has fallen out of my life. I am talking about the bottom falling out of you.

Who will not struggle against that happening? Who will not fight to the last fingernail against such a happening?

A rare person will not fight such a happening. But it's a happening that is going to happen one day. It has to happen one day because only in that way can you find out what you are seeking.

And once you start seeking, my dear friends, you will not stop. You cannot stop. The first step is the last step.

Those who have not taken the first step are safe for a while. But you all have taken at least one step, and do the last step is an inevitability.

Therefore, I am sage in saying that one day this will happen to you: that the bottom will fall out of you.

And then you will be in it.

And then you will be of it.

And then you will be it.

Now everything that happens in this Wild Goose Company that we are a part of -- you equally as well as I whether you know it or not -- the thing that happens is in some way designed to accelerate that happening.

It is designed to undermine the opposition. It is a fifth column. It is a Trojan horse.

My dear Illiteratus (and obviously proud of it), what your maudlin thread tells us is that you do not have a million dollars. When you do, you will understand.
 
Arthur, I take your words with a grain of salt considering you are the Perennial One Lot NQ Tick Trader/Hobbyist - despite over 10 years market experience and over 70 years of life experience. So, exactly what will I understand when I make a million dollars assuming I even want a million dollars?

Illegitimatus, were I, as a former and current millionaire, to select a Christian Bale video clip, it would be from American Psycho. Certainly a more appropriate choice for this venue.

What would you learn were you a millionaire? Having been one, and being one again, I can say that in the eighties, it was worth something. It meant that you could afford multiple women at once. Not serially, as today, because a million isn't worth what it once was.

If you were a millionaire today, you would say "Oh, fuck, this is like being an Italian lirionaire in the '50's!"

And had you ever once enjoyed being a millionaire, and lost that joy, and regained it, you would vow never to lose it again. Because whatever your heart's desire, money magnifies it. Better champagne. Better cars. Better women. Better vacations. Better health care. A bigger trading account. Better clothes. Better food. You name it.

But not a better experience on ET.
