The latter (just 1 c.) happens quite frequently - unfotunately.
Makes scalping the DAX not that easy imho.

Yep, that is why you have to be very careful. But when spread is tight and books has some volume, you have a much better chance of lesser slippage.

I now trade the dax straight from the open, i used to leave the first hour till the cash equity open. I find the very first hour is a lot thinner so you have to have you're wits about you just a tad more but there is some good money to be made especially on the first 5 minutes

No, tick value of the FDAX is 12.50 euro. This implies that you have less slippage on this contract compared to YM (and other US futures) when markets are tight (because $ value of FDAX is much higher).

Below is copy and pasted off the eurex website as you can see the 12.50 shows for a 0.5 movement which is the minimum price movement but for a full fat tick (point) its 25 euros

Contract - DAX® Futures

Contract Value - EUR 25

Minimum Price Change - 0.5

Minimum Price Change Value - EUR 12.50

I used to skip the 1st hour on the DAX and started when the FTSE came online. I have found lots of big moves within that 1st hour in the last say 2 months. So I said what the heck and followed the euros
