Can't believe all the cooling going on.

I went to my wine guy yesterday and ordered 4 cases of Napa and Somoma wines, just in case :)

The grapes were mostly processed this year. So they should be relatively ok. Some names might not recover, though.

Fake news. CA has seen periods of drought as long as 700 years. This year they had record rainfall in spring, which just added more fuel. Not to mention all the development in a fire zome.

Indeed. Actually one of the things that is contributing to fierce fires in the west in a major way is- ironically- the lack of periodic fires that used to occur naturally. Not only in the forests but in developed areas. So you have all this damn brush and slash that goes decades without burning. In the old days, lightening would naturally burn most areas over with relative frequency keeping them from becoming explosive tinder boxes. Now when there is a forest fire of brush fire in developed areas the fire department goes out and suppresses it - admittedly for good reason- but it forestalls the day when nature will take care of bidness- as they say in Texas. It is also the reason why most states do controlled burns where they can, but that is dicey business too. There have been some nasty fires in recent years resulting from uncontrolled burns that jumped the track.
