The Truth About the Health Care Bill

Quote from Dr. Zhivodka:

So Barth...any word on that Section 1402 that you were speaking of?

In addition, Doc, it seems they are going to raise the medical deduction from its current 7.5% of AGI to 10%, and increase the withdrawel penalties from HSA's up to a max of 20% prior to age 65.

Quote from Dr. Zhivodka:

1) (:re section 1402) Then why the hell did you bring it up if you know no specifics?

2) I reject any link from any congressman from texas. It's like reading a post from aaa. Long on focus group phrases and short on reason.

Try again later.

EDIT: I'm not trying to embarrass you...but you do of course understand the concept of sheltering sufficient income as to be below the levels in which any additional taxes may accrue?

You might well be amazed at my understanding and implementation of income sheltering techniques !

As far item#1, you are correct, and I rarely reference something that I have not read with my own eyeballs, however, as I stated earlier I have now read the entire section and have found everything except the Medicare bump, but the odds are it is in there somewhere.

Neither of those apply to viturally all healthy HI filers.

I may very well be amazed.

Look my interest is not in conflict with someone who seems quite levelheaded and reasonable. Tell ya what .... ring up me when the Republicans have some new ideas and trustworthy people to implement them. Until then BTDT.

And if all else fails always earn more than you can use and the government can take. :D

Fair enough...............BTDT ??

Quote from Gabfly1:

Here is what I have read about the new health care reform bill. I would ask that the dissenters kindly point to the specific item that offends them.

"The bill puts Americans in charge of their own health care by enacting three key changes:

It establishes the toughest patient protections in history.

It guarantees all Americans affordable health insurance options, extending coverage to 32 million who are currently uninsured.

And it reduces the cost of care -- cutting over 1 trillion dollars from the federal deficit over the next two decades.

To ensure a successful, stable transition, many of these changes will phase into full effect over the next several years.

But for millions of Americans, many of the benefits of reform will begin this year. Here are a few examples:

Small businesses will receive significant tax cuts, this year, to help them afford health coverage for all their employees.

Seniors will receive a rebate to reduce drug costs not yet covered under Medicare.

Young people will be allowed coverage under their parents' plan until the age of 26.

Early retirees will receive help to reduce premium costs.

Children will be protected against discrimination on the basis of medical history.

Uninsured Americans with pre-existing conditions can join a special high-risk pool to get the coverage they need, starting in just 90 days.

Insured Americans will be protected from seeing their insurance revoked when they get sick, or facing restrictive annual limits on the care they receive.

All Americans will benefit from significant new investments to train primary care doctors, nurses, and public health professionals, and the creation of state-level consumer assistance programs to help all patients understand and defend their new rights."

Again, kindly point to the specific item or items that offend you.

I don't believe any of it... it brought in 30 million people that couldn't afford health insurance, that means that somebody else has to pay for all their care... they won't like it and will feel entitled to go in the neighborhoods of the 30 million and spread pestilence, famine and disease... it could get ugly, really ugly.. uglier than it already is in fact...
