The Truth About the Health Care Bill

Per the CBO:
• Total uninsured in 2019 with no bill: 54 million
• Total uninsured in 2019 with Senate bill: 24
million (44%)

Here is what I have read about the new health care reform bill. I would ask that the dissenters kindly point to the specific item that offends them.

Here is some "different truth" from a non-collectivist point of view:

And, as an after-thought, not directly pointed at you Gaby, but I am amazed at the number of "progressives / socialists" that inhabit this "trading" site. Trading is, in my opinion, the most individualistic, pure free market activity available. As a trader, your skill and expertise are given fair market valuation each day. Each day a trader must earn ones keep. This seems diametrically opposed to the "equal results" ,"government teet" mentality.

They will be pissed alright. I wonder what percentage of voters in this income range voted for Obomba?

If they voted for the ONE they made their bed.

I'll bet that bed is still very soft.

"The bill puts Americans in charge of their own health care by enacting three key changes:

It establishes the toughest patient protections in history.

It guarantees all Americans affordable health insurance options, extending coverage to 32 million who are currently uninsured.

And it reduces the cost of care -- cutting over 1 trillion dollars from the federal deficit over the next two decades.

To ensure a successful, stable transition, many of these changes will phase into full effect over the next several years.

But for millions of Americans, many of the benefits of reform will begin this year. Here are a few examples:

Small businesses will receive significant tax cuts, this year, to help them afford health coverage for all their employees.

Seniors will receive a rebate to reduce drug costs not yet covered under Medicare.

Young people will be allowed coverage under their parents' plan until the age of 26.

Early retirees will receive help to reduce premium costs.

Children will be protected against discrimination on the basis of medical history.

Uninsured Americans with pre-existing conditions can join a special high-risk pool to get the coverage they need, starting in just 90 days.

Insured Americans will be protected from seeing their insurance revoked when they get sick, or facing restrictive annual limits on the care they receive.

All Americans will benefit from significant new investments to train primary care doctors, nurses, and public health professionals, and the creation of state-level consumer assistance programs to help all patients understand and defend their new rights."

Again, kindly point to the specific item or items that offend you.

Okay, I will put a question to you since posters say you are a Canadian. Are there any penalties for not purchasing healthcare in Canada? That is my primary objection to this plan. Other than that, the US needs some sort of reform. Forcing penalties via the IRS stinks.

You forget that most here are wannabe traders using paper accounts or steadfastly blowing their under capitalized stakes wanting to punish the successful.

This always amazes me as well.

I highly doubt Gably1 makes money in the markets, so he probably would love it if at the end of the day he could figure out a way to scoop money to cover his losses from all the profitable traders.

Let's assume that one does actually make money on this board (Large assumption...I know). If true and that were the case that person would know that it's very easy to max out their Legally Tax deferred and AGI reducing, Keogh and Money Purchase Plans and other "things." Under this Bill those traders that make around 800K or so should not pay any extra in taxes.

Wait'll singles making over $200,000. and couples making over $250,000. find out what it costs them. They probably won't feel a thing.

Well, I do know that Gaby is one of the very few liberals on this site that actually interacts in some of the trading threads, so I would venture to say that he respects the craft, at minmum.

Your point however, regarding losses, is exactly my shock at how on earth a "trader" could feel any kinship with socialism. How would you feel after picking up 100 ticks on SBE if the "Trading Results Equalization Board" took 50 ticks for the less fortunate traders.
