I raised two step Sons who cost me MUCH more than $225,000 each, and now that their "mommy" and I are divorced, won't even speak to me out of loyalty to her which she demands (sadly) of them. Their "Daddy" didn't have jack shit to do with them from Kindergarten to HS graduation. I raised them lock, stock, and barrel.

Sorry to hear that man, thats really sad, both my parents are divorced and remarried, the guy i had the greatest bond with growing up with was my stepdad, my mom and him seperated for a bit when i was in highschool and i told my parents straight up i was still going to hang out with him, i think thats part of the reason my mom got back together with him, cause she realised he was that great of a guy, our relationship went from me viewing him as a hostile intruder when my parents first divorced to me viewing him as my brother or my dad.

Cmon you divorced guys... were those women not attractive to you at some point, did you not receive some serious benefits in the beginning. If you are looking at it from a financial perspective... were your really worked over if you balance it all out.

From what i have heard from you, I was raised in a very similar fashion to you, my old man was a no bullshit guy who always asked me growing up what i did that day to feed myself, he was born just after the depression era, so he always stressed putting in a hard days work to earn your food. He told me im on my own the day i turn 18, and he meant it, ive been self sufficient since i was 16, i have never spent more than 2 weeks without a job.
The greatest shame i could have brought to him would be living off the government, now days its not only accepted, its actually encouraged.
I make a few assumptions here.... but...
I think having an exclusive sexual relationship with a young women has serious benefits.
Other than sex, there are other benefits to being married although those vary with the relationship.
And, again, this is an assumption.... but having a good mother for my children is also a serious benefit.
