The Trump-Russia Collusion Count: Definitive List

You are either confused or purposely conflating the post election period with the campaign period. We are not talking about the last days of the administration we are talking about Obama starting the inquiry pre - election. Pre - FISA warrant.

Your article begins:

WASHINGTON — In the Obama administration’s last days, some White House officials scrambled to spread information about Russian efforts to undermine the presidential election — and about possible contacts between associates of President-elect Donald J. Trump and Russians — across the government.

Nice try

Quoting directly from the TRANSCRIPT of the quote you are giddy about.

COOPER: The 2017 assessment that the President says he now agrees with, that was done while you and then NCI Director John Brennan were still in office. So, how can we reconcile the President attacking you, but apparently after a very long time finally, allegedly saying -- or saying he allegedly agrees with the product of the intelligence community that you, yourself oversaw?

CLAPPER: Yes, well, this is -- yes, as we've come to know the President, he is not a stalwart for a consistency or coherence. So it's very hard to explain that. [20:35:06] One point I'd like to make, Anderson, that I don't think has come up very much before, and I'm alluding now to the President's criticism of President Obama for all that he did or didn't do before he left office with respect to the Russian meddling. If it weren't for President Obama, we might not have done the intelligence community assessment that we did that set off a whole sequence of events which are still unfolding today, notably, special counsel Mueller's investigation.

President Obama is responsible for that, and it was he who tasked us to do that intelligence community assess in the first place. And they got the important point when it comes to critiquing President Obama.

So are you saying that the Trump investigation was started by Obama in 2017 because that's what Clapper said - he clearly referred to 2017 so why are you guys lying about this? Clapper is talking about the 2017 intelligence assessment, not why or how the investigation was started under Obama's orders.

"If it weren't for President Obama, we might not have done the intelligence community assessment that we did that set off a whole sequence of events which are still unfolding today, notably, special counsel Mueller's investigation."

Clapper may have been referring to that 2017 request for an assessment by Obama. However, he may not have been. Yes, the 2017 assessment was about email hacks, but, Mueller went after Manafort and Flynn and according to you and much of the Media this Mueller investigation is really about getting Trump. The FISA warrant and dossier info were developed long before the election.

Additionally, Mueller was appointed because Trump fired Comey. I don't see how Obama could have anticipated that.

Obama or at least the WH seems to have been involved long before the 2017 assessment.

“We’re not going to withstand the pressure soon,” FBI lawyer Lisa Page texted fellow agent Peter Strzok on Aug. 3, 2016, days after Strzok opened the official probe and returned from a trip to London. At the time, they were dealing with simultaneous challenges: the wrap-up of the Hillary Clinton email scandal and the start of the Russia-Trump probe.

Over several days, they exchanged texts that appear to express fears of political meddling or leaking by the Obama White House, the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the CIA.

“This is MUCH more tasty for one of those DOJ aholes to leak,” Strzok wrote as the two FBI colleagues — then having an affair, the bureau later told Congress — debated how long they could delay a CIA-FBI meeting so as to “not play into the agency’s BS game.”

They voiced alarm when an FBI colleague — “Liz” — suggested the Obama White House was about to hijack the investigation. “Went well, best we could have expected,” Strzok texted Page after an Aug. 5, 2016, meeting. “Other than Liz quote ‘the White House is running this.’ ” Page then texted to assure Strzok of a paper trail showing the FBI in charge: “We got emails that say otherwise.”

The next day, they went into further detail about their White House concerns. “So maybe not the best national security president, but a genuinely good and decent human being,” Page texted Strzok, referencing former President Obama. Strzok replied: “Yeah, I like him. Just not a fan of the weakness globally. Was thinking about what the administration will be willing to do re Russia.”

I can see you argument and Clapper may have still be referring to that 2017 request.
However, he may not have been.

How can you say that? Cooper started by talking of the ASSESSMENT in 2017, Clapper immediately started talking about the same - what other assessments can there be? And even presuming that 2017 really meant 2016 - what's wrong with an assessment? It's not the same as ordering a wiretap/investigation/warrant - it's simply an assessment of what they already had.

The entire conspiracy is nonsense and disingenuous.

As for the Strzok assessment, conservative WSJ says there was no conspiracy after going through each of them

Legally there's no there there relative to collusion, and everyone knew that from the jump. It was just the tool to open the door.

It was a tool to open the door. A door that definitely needed to be opened unless you think its ok to have a crook for a president. I must be one of the exceptions re collusion because I didn't know there was no "collusion from the jump", and I still don't know that. I always assumes there could be collusion, and that it was likely that there were some individuals in the campaign actively aiding the Russian effort. I would be impossible for Mr. Trump not to have known that the Russians were actively involved in smearing Clinton and in spreading disinformation. His timely remarks during the campaign -- such as his telling us new shit was coming out on Clinton -- seems to have telegraphed that he knew. The more I learn the more it seems my initial hunches were spot on. I always thought Trumps real culpability lay not in collusion as much as in tax evasion and money laundering. And I remain convinced that's where his greatest chance of going to jail lies. The New York Case involving the Trump Foundation is threatening to blow the lid wide open on his tax returns. And now his accountant is on the hot seat. Once those returns are scrutinized, I expect it will be the beginning of the end for Trump, not because of what's there, but because of what isn't. Maybe Mr. Trump won't be as fortunate as his daddy Fred was when he narrowly avoided going to prison for embezzlement of government money during the Eisenhower administration. As Yogi Berra said, "Predictions are hard, especially about the future."

BuzzFeed News: “The June 2016 meeting at Trump Tower has become one of the most famous gatherings in American political history: a flashpoint for allegations of collusion, the subject of shifting explanations by the president and his son, countless hair-on-fire tweets, and boundless speculation by the press.”

“But secret documents reviewed by BuzzFeed News reveal a previously undisclosed aspect of the meeting: a complex web of financial transactions among some of the planners and participants who moved money from Russia and Switzerland to the British Virgin Islands, Bangkok, and a small office park in New Jersey.”
