The top 70 people in Chinese politics are worth 90 billion.

Speaking of China, anyone up to date on a free and easy to use proxy to surf the web while there - no google, no youtube, no bloomberg, no many blogs, and even no access to a bunch of websites having neither economical, political or sexual content... it feels a bit oppressive plus it does make one's life more difficult

Most stuff is accessible besides Youtube and Facebook, no worries.

How r u surfing the web in China ? Among other stuff from the hotel, I can't open Bloomberg, vixandmore blog, I can't even access a european website selling optical gear to follow an order I made for a relative there.

Besides considering how youtube links are prevalent on internet discussions, it's a bit frustrating trying to follow those from mainland china

http://viewdns.info has China firewall test.

Thanks for the link. it might be worse from the hotel I stay, as I get

"Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /.html on this server."

whereas your link shows the link allowed in China.

Bloomberg is confirmed blocked though

Note that the viewdns link itself is not working without issues

Get a VPN before going there and problem is solved.

I have said it before and will say again, China is and always has been a feudalistic society. Feudalism most closely describes the structure that has survived into today.

Regarding the censorship and oppression, the MAINLANDERS at the heart of the matter are offcially blind aside from the few dissidents via CCP policy. Overseas chinese are not blind to this but need to keep their mouths shut or risk not doing business there. Expats are not immune as they likely have family and ties to the mainland. Unoffcially, everyone knows the game and has to play along.
