The thing about "day trading"

Quote from Everest:

You make a number of assumptions about traders which reveal you are not one. In this case is quite frustrating reading stuff like this, as the view can at best be described as 'narrow'

May I respectfully suggest that keep your bar room philosophy where it belongs. Unless of course you just want to try and make those of us who are actually good at this feel bad, in which case, I smay suggest you put your philosophy somewhere completely different.

couldn't have said it better

I don't know you but this is got to be one of more stupid posts. I cannot imagine anything in this world that is worthwhile? Your born with nothing and leave with nothing. So what is your point?

I personally am rotating money in and out of Currencies/Options/Equities/Futures and creating a living for tens of thousand of people in the infrastructure of trading as a meaningful industry to society.

I am giving companies money to invest with and their associated markets liquidity to fund foreign governments that are poverty stricken.

I am providing the catalyst for small companies to grow and employ people.

I am providing cash flow for our banking system to function.

Your post is naive and your self righteous attitude gets you no where with god.

Well said.

Quote from Witm020:

I have been paper trading for awhile now and I usually listen to music or watch TV while trading and it never distracts me or any sort. I’m just wondering if you guys listen to any music or watch TV if your daytrading? I usually listen to Howard Stern to help me through the day, though I would really miss him soon. So anyway do you guys listen to music or watch TV while trading or what do you do to keep from being bored or stressed out? Eat? I’m just wondering also how many traders are getting ‘fat’ or gain weight from sitting on their office/computer all day long and doing nothing.

I don't watch TV or listen to music; do you want your heart surgeon watching TV while he's operating? To keep from getting stressed out, I get away from the screens so I'm not looking at any more price fluctuations. Of course this depends on your time frame... this is possible if you trade for 1 day or more moves. Besides trading I go to school so I sometimes can't watch the screens, nor do I want to... it can be an addictively bad habit especially if it causes overtrading.
Strangely, I find myself eating less when I'm trading actively, so no problems on getting fat. If you eat when you're nervous or have anxiety, then weight gain is an issue.
