Here is the reason why MSFT moved big today:


Microsoft (MSFT) 55.31 +2.74: Soundview remains upbeat about MSFT's Q4 report in July despite lower PC numbers (US consumer demand for the week ending 6/1 declined 8% w/w); believes the licensing opportunity for MSFT offers enough upside opportunity to dampen any decrease in revenue. Firm's recent checks continue to indicate that the June qtr will be back-end loaded with many customers signing license agreements in the last few weeks of June. Soundview would be buyers of the stock at these levels .. shares climb over 5% on call.



Briefing.com: Market presses higher on the back of Microsoft : Equities staging an impressive move as the close of trading approaches. As with each of the significant intraday recoveries the market has put together in recent weeks, there is a once again a rumor said to be responsible for the move. Bin Laden -- not this time; nor an India/Pakistan accord. Today's speculation is that Microsoft (MSFT +5.7%) will preannounce to the upside.

How does the roll on a futures contract work? I bought a june @ close for 21.5, & the roll is in the a.m. just notified by elocal.

I forgot about this, have you ever had to roll yours & what does it consist of doing?

hi,

i am relatively a newbe when it comes to futures, however, a roll is when one moves into the next expiration date. as to the mechanics, i am not sure.

it's thursday and we are still short the nassdaq index. in a bear market rallies are often sharp and severe, like we experienced yesterday, followed by prolonged downward movement.

as long as we stay under 1527 in the composite, we will stay confidently short. if we break above 1527--will consider taking profits.

today appears to have many traders confused regarding the nasdaq, we stayed below our 1527 short cover trigger, and modulated between the neogann wheel figures of 1503 and 1527 thru most of the day. here near the close, we have broken the 1503 level on the downside 3:53. we are holding all shorts in the nasdaq overnight.
