Election Days
The SPX gained ground 8 of the last 10 days prior to an election SPX lost ground 7 of the last 10 days after an election
Since 1984, the SPX closed higher on Election Day in ‘84, ’88, and ’96, and closed lower in ’92 and ’00.
The Dow Jones made a new yearly low in August. The only other time that happened in an election year was in 1920, and in that year the Dow declined by more than 10% in November. This was the worst November in election year history.

i am suffering thru my short macro trade on the DJIA. I am holding shorts here and will continue to hold untill 9.7.04 at the minimum. the studies are still indicating a substantial down move by that time that will place us into profits on the trade.


I traded GOOG today, first short with a loss, then long with a nice gain. I shorted larger size between 109.97--- 110.15 --- holding this short overnight.

It's been 8 years since I took the series 7, but isn't a new issue not available for short selling until 30 days of trading? Security Exchange act of 1934.

its only available to short in bucket shops.

Dow could easily correct here. Many individual DOW charts are not all that great.

I worked at a bucket shop...it would be even more difficult to violate the new issue short rule there because regulators are watching every move. But if you say you shorted it then I wish you good luck.
I will call my brokers tomorrow to see if its available anywhere.
