Marketsurfer,

Is it possible for me to give u a call some time? I am staring as a trader at a prop trading firm in about 3 weeks and I would like to talk to u to get some idea about how you trade. I have never traded before and I am accepting a job where there is no salary. My pay is 70% of the profits.

I have seen your accurate market forecasting and have been amazed. Is there any specific books that u recommend? What stocks do u trade? DO u trade primarily NYSE or NASDAQ too? How long to u hold your positions? Do u hold it for minutes or hours? Do u scalp? Do u stay on the same side of the specialists? If so how? How do u read the tape? How do u interpret time and sales data?

You know the guy is a guru, when he gets sick and can't trade, which keep him from covering his longs at a loss, forcing him to hold overnight, and the very next day the market takes off like a rocket and puts him in profits.

Where the heck did he learn to do that?
 
I was a pro tennis player before....I am not Agasssi but had a world ranking. Trading to me, is just like playing tennis. I am also going to take up professional poker.

So, marketsurfer where r u? I am waiting to hear from u. I need your advice before I go prop trading. I am hoping I will make 100 bucks every day to begin with.

thanks for the kinds words and support. the mindset to win in tennis is extremely similar to day trading the emini index products--- volley then SCORE. i think you will be succesful if you can transfer the tennis psychology to the markets. i am not a prop trader and can't advise in that regard. i would reccomend you speak to "rtharp", "uptik2000" or "donbright" regarding trading at a prop firm. i primarily trade the nasdaq and djia indexes with my system. i do day trade using very simple indicators , but i do not scalp as a rule. for some more info on my trading check out my "innerworth" interview on www.marketsurfer.com under the "dave's wave" tab.

luck, 777, luck. please reread the thread. i was positioned sized such that a larger than normal drawdown is still within the risk parameters. this enabled me to let the position ride against me, not any kind of "guru" ability.

Hello every body (and hello to marketsurfer),

I will be given a buying power of 300 shares to begin with at a prop day trading firm. They primarily do NYSE stocks. What is the best stock(S) to trade? If I trade IBM, then it's like competing with Michael Jordon because the best and the most experienced trade that. Any ideas/input would be appreciated.

1) Should I just trade one stock and understand it or

2) Should I trade whatever is in the news for that day?

3) What are some indicators that doesn't lag in time?

4) What minute charts are best to use? 1 minute? 2 minutes? 5 minutes or 15 minutes?
