When the originator of the post writes "Doesn't look that bad" and doesn't include quotes, it is usually from the poster (as it was in the case of the quoted post). When it is quoted, it is referencing another post (as it just was this time) it is referencing something else.

You are just trolling by picking out one sentence in the first article. I don't need to find any media hype. In the articles are facts about shortage of beds. Plain and simple. Your disagreement is based solely on your opinion.

CA Governor is a DEM so naturally you don't believe him. Trump is even talking about the severity of the crisis so maybe you will listen only to GOP.

I'm not trolling. And I don't care whose governor is what political party.

You believe (from what I gather) that this is an all out epidemic disaster and everyone should be cowering in fear in their houses, and the medical system is about to collapse. I don't see it this way. I see this as a severe overreaction by inept governments and a hyper-reactive media. While I do believe that the virus is worse than your average cold virus (corona viruses are cold viruses, not flu) what should have been done is to isolate high risk individuals (as they should do whenever there is any bad flu/cold season).

In my opinion, and you can call this trolling if you want, I really don't give a shit, this is highlighting poorly managed/run governments at the local, state and federal level because of issues in response, medical facilities closed and shuttered long ago because of funding, lack of a pandemic plan overall at the federal level (going on since Bush) and incredible useless WHO, and a bumbling CDC.

And what's more, they know it and are trying to push the narrative to show how "overrun" they are, and they might be overrun in a few spots in some very localized areas, but overall - nada. And when the numbers don't materialize in the "millions dead" or incapacitated, they'll either fake them (like they're doing with Covid death statistics now by including anyone with Covid who dies as dying from Covid) or they'll come up with a magic "see! Our plan worked and we're all saved" horseshit. Meanwhile the economy has had a nuclear bomb dropped into the midst of it and small business owners and the poor will - once again - experience the greatest wealth transfer every known by mankind.

So yeah, if that's trolling, then I'm a troll. Hide in your apartment if you want and push out "shit is real" posts on this or any other social media site. Doomcast from here until oblivion. The thing about the End of the World trade is that you only get to do it once.

We would all be sick and the hospitals in San Diego would be full instead of unusually empty.

I hiked Iron mountain that first week of the shutdown and it was the most crowded I have seen it.
It was like Mt. Everest on a clear down when the film crews were out.
We should all be sick as snot around here. Yet the hospitals are empty.

Newsome is projecting the need for more beds... and apparently worse outcomes.

How can you say the hospitals are empty? The news articles say otherwise. Have you seen them?
 
A lot of fear is being instilled in people to get them to hide - and thus protect the Health Care Community from what they fear most - their hospitals being overrun.
And it's not impossible, where both large urban areas and small rural areas are ALL at risk. There is no 'safe zone'...

There's nothing very common about this thing.
Who it attacks, why, the symptoms presented (or not at all), the incubation, the virulence, the prevalence, the fatality. This shit is all over the map......

We know for certain that old people with comorbidities are most susceptible...
well, wow. That's weird...that never happens...

But what else? Is it blood type?
I read a great study some time ago about Viral Interference from Flu vaccines, particularly aimed at Coronaviruses. What percentage of flu shot patients got COVID?
People with HIV are especially vulnerable, it seems...

I've got friends in hospitals in Montreal, Vancouver, Detroit, NYC, Miami, Phoenix, LA, SF...
I talk with all of them when they have a chance...
It's busy for most of them. Even specialists have all hands on deck though they aren't doing much of their specialty work.
Only my friend in NYC was panicked...

I get it and I sympathize....We are dealing with an unknown, strange virus.
We don't really know how it came to be, if it was intention or accidental.
Not relevant, perhaps, at this moment. But certainly bears consideration.
