I don't know that he threw it intentionally, but you are right, she's a place holder, but for how long. If she wins are they going to torpedo her, wait 4 years to primary her? That could be problematic if the 4 years are disastrous.
Vivek would have destroyed her. RFK Jr. would have wrecked her as well. GOP made a mistake going with him again. Any other female would trample her. Trump is neck and neck, which means he's losing a tight race.
 
Best assessment I've read is that they, the media and team Harris colluded to make it a trial, not a debate. They were successful. Trump is an easy target and the GOP should have known that. Anyone else would be crushing Kamala, or Joe if they hadn't made the switch.
 
Trump constantly talked about Biden was fragile and not up to the task of campaigning against him along with stating multiple times at his rallies that Biden should step down. Trump and the media put more emphasis on that after Biden's poor debate performance...pressuring other Democrats to ask Biden to step down.

Trump and many others seemed surprised after Biden's Covid diagnosis...Biden stepped down. Trump then complained it was not fair and it was a coup. That is when I knew he feared Kamala Harris...a woman, a person of color, a former prosecutor who's very experienced with convicted felons, and the Vice President of the United States of America.

Harris treated Trump like shooting Fish in a Barrel...he was an easy target and she showed him that she was in charge when she walked across that stage to firmly shake his hand...catching Trump off guard at his debate podium.

My first thought when Harris walked across the stage... she was going to slug (fight back) this bully. Trump looked surprised and caught off guard. His thoughts must have been...

What the fuck??? ​

He must have gotten PTSD as she approached him so firmly with her handshake...he must have thought about that failed assassination attempt there in Pennsylvania.

He was triggered so easily last night at the debate. He lied too many times, failed to talk in more detail about the immigration at the southern border although I do understand they had a time limit to give their answers/responses, as an idiot he pulled out misinformation about immigrants/migrants eating your pets in Ohio but he stopped short of saying they ate Ohio's babies too, lied about January 6th including denying he wanted to get rid of +100k law enforcement the day after his Hush Money felony convictions, deny (shook his head in denial) he wanted to go after those that worked together to convict him...

He was an angry old man, his many lies, and anger were on full display. ​

Simply, Trump had his balls kicked in by a woman, person of color, and prosecutor that the rest of MAGA must have felt that kicked too as if it were their nuts getting hammered. The Dems executed the plan of having a prosecutor debate with a convicted felon to perfection.

Unlike Biden's poor debate performance, it's too late for the GOP to pressure Trump to step down. They are stuck with a sinking ship and I don't think Trump has enough time to right this sinking ship.

Maybe...the only thing they can do is fly Trump out of the United States to Russia, China, or North Korea with all of Ohio's dogs, cats, ducks, and other pets.

P.S. Horse meat in restaurants is legal in Canada. Had Trump stated that immigrants from Canada were crossing the northern border (Lake Eerie on boats) into Ohio and eating Ohio's horses from the stables of horse owners...

It would still be a far-fetched story in the United States. :D
