The Science of Fox News: Why Its Viewers are the Most Misinformed

Quote from Brass:

However, answer me this. As you may know, there are a few "libertarians" here who would uphold the "right" of a restaurant owner in refusing to serve blacks on the grounds of "freedom."

I don't get what the problem is with that, though it just doesn't sound like a good business decision to me.

Quote from Free Thinker:

should a white racist doctor in a one doctor southern town be able to refuse to treat a black man?

Yes, but the bigger question should be why on earth would a black man want to?

The reason this is quite logical is , if you force him to take any patient you may end up with a zero DR town then everybody suffers.

Quote from Free Thinker:

ok. should a racist pharmacist in a one pharmacy southern town be able to refuse to sell medications to a black man who needs them to live?

should a racist grocery store owner in a one grocery store southern town be able to refuse to sell groceries to blacks?

yes, see how easy that is?

Quote from Brass:

Oh, but if it had only been a convenience store and a woman wanted to buy a few grocery items, the owner could turn her away solely because of her skin color? And if the next store is several miles away and she came on foot, well, that's just tough shit? THIS is the kind of country you want to live in? (Not that the proximity of the next store is of any consequence, but it adds color, don't you think?)

Yes I most definitely do.

It would be nice to live where people are free to enter mutually beneficial contracts of their choice.

Quote from wjk:

Thomas Sowell is one of my favorites. I recently purchased his revised "Intellectuals and Society". He makes a lot of sense on a lot of issues.

Thomas Sowell: most intelligent conservative out there.

Quote from Max E. Pad:

Thomas Sowell predicted what was going to happen because of Welfare back in 1980, back then they were talking about the problem of 12% OF FAMILIES NOT BEING 2 PARENT FAMILIES ( By 2008, that number had tripled) Look where we have gotten today because of welfare, and liberal policies....

I love when he says:

"It is incredible how you start the story in the middle as if there is a predestined amount of poverty, a predestined amount of unemployment, and that the welfare system is not in any way responsible for that"

Excellent video.

Well hate to change the subject but...

So have we figured out whether Fox News makes people stupid, or is it that the people who watch it are stupid already. I think that it is a little of both.

But Fox News is not a news show. It's a republican propaganda program. So in effect what these studies show is that what Republicans think they know, is often wrong. Fox News watchers have been, and are deluded.
