I think that's wishful thinking. Progressives made great inroads the past 20 years, or so. But that pendulum has reached its maximum and now coming back to the right. Liberals went a bridge too far with open door immigration, turning a blind eye to terrorists, and exporting jobs overseas (as did the neocons = hence Trump/Bernie). Over in Europe, right-wing parties are exploding in popularity. The muzzie invasion, another grave miscalculation by EU leadership. Hence Brexit, LePen etc.
America has a strong and abiding Christian base. They won't tolerate much Islam. Canada is about 10 years behind America. Trudeau was a protest vote against Harper. Watch. Canadian Conservatives will field a straight-talker like Trump and win. Modern day progressives are mostly rudderless with no real moral or philosophical compass. They're entirely hypocritical on their core issues (protecting minority rights) when a 'bigger' more valued minority comes along. In this case, women, blacks and gays now take a backseat to Muslims and Sharia Law. Half this country won't tolerate that, no matter who wins the White House. So assuming the Left wins and continues their agenda indefinitely, it'll likely end in a civil war. Not good for anyone.
What you have to understand is America and Americans don't have to change for anyone. That's a progressive ideal - that America accommodate and change for immigrants. Half the country rejects that and will never live like that. And why should they? It's THEIR country. Should we also invade Japan, nose around their country and demand they change for us? That's nonsense. Just another example of Liberal hypocrisy. Liberals would never demand a foreign country cow to the American way of life. But routinely lecture Americans to cow to immigrants. Soft racism.
