The Real Reason Romney Lost

"I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

Quote from MarketMasher:

Implied in that is that - you can have wealth - just do not let it be your master.

Explicit statements are not implying anything other than what they state.

I tell you the truth : gfy

Again I tell you : gfy

Since you don't believe in God then you have no arguments with that which is contained within the bible.

"hard" and "easier" are not synonyms for "impossible".

You are the one who implies that they are.

"For God, all things are possible." Explicit enough?

Quote from AAAintheBeltway:

There are two or three issues here. One is illegal immigration, which Cinton and Bush tolerated or even encouraged for 16 years. Clearly there were business groups in the republican party who welcomed it.

Two is the living wage argument, which to me seems out of place here. The assumption is anyone making an entry level wage needs to live a middle calss lifestyle on it. that is usually not the situation, as these jobs are usually held by kids living at home or still in school, etc.

Three is the issue of CEO compensation. I have railed against this for years here, often to the annoyment of my conservative brethren. I think we saw a manifestation of the simmering resentment against it in this election. Romney is a decent man, but to a lot of people he looked like the boss who got a huge options/bonus package while the workers got squat. Ironically, the democrats have no incentive to do anything about this disparity since it plays to their narrative and keeps people angry.

I'm with you on most of this, but the living wage is a real issue. I agree compleltely that entry level postions are just that, and should not pay what would be considered a living wage. However, there are thousands of skilled positons that are not paying a decent wage. I can take to in to hundreds of fab shops in the Chicago area and most have really poor wages(10-12 dollars an hour) and benefits are almost nil. Most are manned heavily Hispanic.
This drives down wages across the board in manufacturing. A journeyman machinist starting at CAT in Joliet pays 16 bucks an hour with their two tier system. That's an absurdly low wage for someone with that skill set. Our shop pays 27 and that is too low IMO. Of course we do provide a company funded pension plan in addition to a 401K, and health care package is 100% company paid. Very unusual for these times.

BTW - you have to be careful of your bias limiting your thinking.

Because all you have to do is....

make a really big needle....... :D

Explicit statements which imply the impossible, are not implying anything other than what they state.
Even if you believe they do.

Actually, i believe the phrase eye of a needle referred to narrow mountain passes, not sewing needles. At least I have heard that.

You mean represent Bible passages as nothing more than a joke. okay.
The religious idea that religious books say whatever, even when they don't.

I'm gonna use that someday.... :D
Just not any time soon. :D
Why wait. Not properly following what's being said can't be stopping you.
