I look back in history to see what happened in another but similar struggle for power. Obama is threatening to over-ride Congress and pass his legislation.

I hear you but I have to disagree.
Obama gave them Obamacare, gays in the military and everywhere else, he has waged a war on coal and energy, he and Holder have engaged in relentless race baiting, the dems have made their motto the bogus War on Women, he has tried to raise taxes every change he gets, etc etc. He pulled out of Iraq and supported radical islamists in other countries.
End of the day, I don't think the claim that obama ignored his base is valid. He may well have given them unrealistic expectations that could never be met, at least not with a republican House.

Of course it's low turnout. Nobody ever asks why. Why don't people vote? Is it because they're lazy and stupid? A few for sure, but the overwhelming majority, and I mean like 90% overwhelming don't vote because they don't buy the bullshit. They don't believe there's anything in it for them. They don't believe there's any real difference between the parties. They don't believe any of it, and you know what? They're right.
Then why is turnout so much higher for presidential elections?

I am concerned the establishment Rs are also being tone deaf on purpose.
1. working people have been totally squeezed by inflation, lack of upward mobility (outside the dc area)
tax increases and real estate costs.
2. Then obamacare jacked what was left over and gave us few doctors...
3. Then you add in open borders making our kids sick and giving us the ebola lottery and people are like
what the hell is wrong with these assholes... in D.C.
these morons in DC have destroyed our economic well being and they are trying to bring in more people to kill wages and disease our kids.
and don't even get me started on state govts and schools.
Govt is failing those who work their ass off.
That is the discussion people without govt jobs have over beers at PTA meetings everywhere. The media keeps pretending its not happening and people therefore consume less media.
Slight openings and people unload on how bad obama's and pelosi and reids policies are.
That is why the dems distanced themselves from Obama... they went out and met the people and the people unloaded their frustations and venom on them.
They felt it ins such a powerful manner they deserted the President... they had to.
Trying to support these democrat policies would have been supremely dumb.

I think Benghazi wont be much of an issue for a while now.
Perhaps because the midterms give them a chance to try the other side if they're believe we're on "the wrong track". Once they've had two years to rediscover why they voted for the other party in the first place, they switch back again.
