sounds good on paper. Do they work from prison though? Does a poor dude from the hood pay child support of a 6 figure earner? Does a billionaire pay child support of a low 5 figure earner and get off from further financial punishment? I hope cons didn't pull a fast one and get rid of any civil lawsuit provisions w/this.
That kind of happens via the civil lawsuits filed against the driver and when contemplating damages (compensatory). I cannot imagine someone's parent killed by a drunk driver not suing the driver since they are most likely insured and will be able to pay out millions which might equal quite a lot more than child support until the kid is 18.
I need more details but perhaps it is trying to force it into being and deciding the estate does not need to sue to get support for the kids and leave it up in the air and force it under the law. Would be interesting to see what the formula is based on kids age and reviewing means of the parent.
And here I thought this thread was gonna cover a moratorium on people with nothing better to do than worry about 130 year old statues in a town square outside a courthouse with the Ten Commandments boldly hung in its atrium, in some middle of nowhere town that 99% of America has never heard of.
Texas and guns
I don't like. I think there should be uniformity where the person pays the same amount no matter who gets killed. The punishment should not be up to the randomness of the victim's circumstances.
