in a way i think you have hit it on the head. this is a war based christianity vrs islam. the worlds two great superstitions are in a struggle for dominance.
It's not about my bank account. Or the bank account of grieving parents who lost a child in an unnecessary war. it's about weighing issues of ultimate importance.
The war sux. The war is costly in terms of human sacrifice and in the diversion of funding that could be allocated elsewhere. However the benefit of 300,000,000 American's takes precedent over the loss of military personnel. Thus the question is, Has America prospered since the GOP House takeover of 1994? The answer is clearly yes. Are things perfect? Not by a long shot. Could things be MUCH, MUCH, MUCH worse? They could and they will. Do I think the Democrat's will make things better? No, I think they'll bury us.
If this was the "old" Democrat Party I'd be less apprehensive. But today's class warfare fighting, minority backed Democrat's are a just a small step above all out socialists.

How many times does one have to explain that the reason we are in Irak and Afghanistan and hopefully Iran is because of responsibility. It is about being responsible.
Letting all these crazy nuts in the middle east do whatever they want for the last 3 decades has only become a bigger and bigger problem. They don't understand peace. They don't understand law. They don't understand tolerance.
Leaving them alone like the world has done all this time has only brought misery to their land. Hate brews well in misery. My GOD they teach their kids hate, that suicide is good. And that killing the "infidels" takes them to heaven. And this they have done the last three decades, undisturbed, while we sat here like idiots, living a "civilized" life.
It's like living in a city which has a particularly bad neighborhood. If you leave it alone it will only get worse. Until you see people from that neighborhood committing crimes in the other neighborhoods like it happened in 9-11.
Africa is one of those world neighborhoods for example. But African's are unlucky, people in general don't give damn about them. They should, but they don't because no African has gone as far as coming to this country to kill himself and murder as many others he can at the same time in the name of a "God". Africa is not full of oil, so there is no money to buy or build nuclear weapons. But if African's were coming here to kill themselves and others and their land was full of oil and money and had religious cultures preaching hate to the West, and rogue governments(like they do now) we would be there too. It would be stupid not to.
Do you guys really think that by hoping and crossing our fingers here, things will get better there? It hasn't happened !!
