When I studied for the bar exam in 1991. I knew I was in a bit of trouble. I did well enough in law school but I only studied about half as much as my friends. had unusual recall of what professors said in class (becasuse I rarely wrote notes, I listened) and I remember most of what I read. So I was fine in school. But I really have a much shorter attention span than most so I just did not know how I was going to stuff in all that bar eaxm information.
The bar required us to learn a large amount of info in a month 1/2. I was the type of person who took classes in what I was interested in--- so many of the topics on teh bar were new to me. I knew I could not put in the reccommended hours let alone the hours my stressed friends were capable of. I did some research on accelerated learning.
I bought mozart, boroque, some other classical music. I had to buy a c.d player and better speakers. Pretty darn nice boston acustics that lasted until a month ago.
I played the suggested music while studying and I learned everything. It was awesome. I went to review class in the morning surfed or played volleyball in the after noon. Studied till 10-11 and went out for beers a couple times a week.
First-- I learned to love the music. Second my room was tranquil while all my friends roomates and girlfriend were wound up and almost nuts. I enjoyed studying. Third. I really think I had much bettter retention than normal. And I actually looked forward to my time with the books. I was confident the whole time. The music seeme to adjust my attitude adjust my suroundings and increase my effectiveness.
I look back upon my time studyind for the bar with very good memories. It was the music.
But I had to take the bar three times. (no I passed the first time)
