The Perfect Prop Firm

Quote from Maverick74:

And your struggles with the written word continue. When you have some down time, will you please google the difference between buying power and account equity? Thanks.
ok, I used the wrong word so you win

Quote from Maverick74:

Are you stupid or do you just play a stupid guy on the internet? Only 10% of traders on average are even profitable at prop firms. Those 10% have a right to protect themselves from the other 90%.

and of course with the withdrawals of profits every month, the following month you could have one great trader gets into one big trade, stock gets halted, and he is short 300k shares, they announce a tender offer for the shares 5-10 pts higher, and its game over, for , well most firms.

Quote from Maverick74:

That's not how it works. First of all, nobody compounds their money like that at prop firms because most traders sweep their profits out. Primarily for fear of the firm blowing up. You would too.
...

True that. Illustrates one big difference in attitude between prop shop traders and prop traders in banks. To one group, everything's a trade. To the other, trading's a job with potential upside.

I don't really care what people think. I base my estimates on my historical performance. I'm not the one claiming 1000% returns.

You may be right about paper trader.. the thing most people don't see though is that it doesn't matter. I can get rich as a paper trader because others recognize that I'm a good ticket. Whether I do as well with my actual capital doesn't even matter.

Anyway.. I'm finished with this forum. Everyone here is about showing off and not helping others. I predict the market because I enjoy it and I win. I trade because its what I'm best at. There are a lot of other ways to get rich. I do what I want to do.. and that's what I want to do.

I make my own way... Yes i agree the market is treacherous.. that's why I'm not going to Chicago without any money to join a firm that doesn't pay a salary.

Quote from Maverick74:

Yeah I know. He has a lot to learn but I'm not going to begrudge him for paper trading. I wish him well. He's young and naive. We were all there once. The market will humble him in due time. I don't need to do it for him.

2c: This is the difference between a computer programmer and a trader. Not that there's anything necessarily wrong with being one or the other. Just different.

Mav, this Lucias guy is very funny; he was promoting his thread in a reply to one of my prev post and i sure did check him out.

http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=215790&perpage=40&pagenumber=11
He got completely killed on the other thread he started by baggerlord and he is advertising people to go and read that thread. From what i can tell he trades a 4000$ paper money portfolio :).

Maybe i am somewhat off base; but i can bet not that off base :) based on what i read in that thread. I think he just talks a lot.. thats all.

No offense. Just brutal truths.

Three words:

Home schooled freak = Mook

Probably lives in a small town with the likes of Napolean Dynamite but thinks he is a hotshot trader from a major city.

You can't be both. You are either Napolean Dynamite or cutting edge trader from a major city.

Eom.

(Evidence of home schooling at its finest.)

How about a third possibility. Both.

A stupid guy playing a stupid guy on the internet. That would be something.

No offense. Just brutal truths.

I've never been so offended in all of my life.

Hate to say it, but here's another reason why some should stay away from prop firms.

Gotta have a real thick skin, and learn to enjoy the two way derogatory banter..

Same bs & similar characters on any floor anywhere in the world.

Not such a fun ride for academic types, or fragile egos.
