As expected the number of cases, hospitalizations, and deaths will increase after ending a lockdown. The key is to keep them at a low enough level so contact tracing and testing will work, and the hospitals will not be overwhelmed. Health officials need to keep an close eye on the effective infection rate (R) as well.
Thank you for stating this.
People are going to die from Covid. People are going to die from the flu, from other Coronaviruses, from Cancer, Diabetes and other sicknesses - contagious or otherwise. That's life. None of us make it out alive.
We have had enough time to prepare and flatten the curve. It should not be necessary at this point to lock anyone down, destroy anyone's economic livelihood or wreck people's lives if they are not at risk. Those who are at risk (the people who are older and infirm or immuno-impaired) should use caution. They should use caution any time a particularly nasty virus is circulating.
The only thing I've been against since the beginning was burning down the house simply because we found ants in the kitchen.
