I can get behind that...
However, do you really think this is going to work?
How much will it cost? How will it stop the smugglers of human being (the mules who bring in the illegals)?
We gave amnesty to the Confederate soldiers following their beat down in the Civil War.
Clearly they were criminals for their uprising and fighting against the Union soldiers.
But we forgave them as it was in the best interest of the country.
Wouldn't it make more sense to just not hire someone who doesn't speak English?
Imagine if that were the law...you don't hire people who don't speak the language, who don't have decent documentation.
Could we get the documentation difficult (if not reasonably impossible) to counterfeit?
I think the real issue with the illegals is that they take more than they contribute to the government and the economy, and they refuse to learn English and speak English in America...
So if those are the real issues, address them first, right?
Quote from JWS11:
Per my post last page:
"How about this plan: the government announces their resolve to stop illegal immigration; they start imposing fines to those who hire illegals, which will act to diminish the illegals' incentive to stay; illegals are arrested (a la Arizona's law) and deported with a misdemeanor mark on their record, which will make it harder for them to re-enter legally; as a result the flow in the country slows down even further; at the same time, the government clarifies legal steps that people across the border can take to be admitted legally in this country legally, etc. Key to all this is the truth that we don't hate Mexicans, we just don't want criminals having a field day at the expense of this country's interests."
Not perfect, but it's a start. Perhaps the professional politicians can come up with something better. I'm only a trader
