Enough solar electricity could be generated by existing technology in the Mojave Desert to power every home and and car in North America, the bailout money would pay for the entire project probably.. but first you would have to get Big Oil to step aside.....
 
You are gonna waist all that land for fuckn solar. How is that environmentally friendly? What about the animals that call that call that land home?

Electric cars will not be viable until we come up with high temperature superconducting materials which is about 25-30 years away.
