I completely agree he is facing an uphill battle. Like you said, only a few thousand people in the right states switching their vote can decide the next POTUS.
I think both sides are going to pull the “voting fraud” card if they lose. Whether it’s mail in ballots being tossed, Russia hacking the voting booths, voter intimidation, etc etc. Seems both parties are already planting their seeds.
It’s going to be ugly. I just hope it doesn’t turn violent.

This mass mailing of ballots even to people who did not request it should not have been allowed. All of it on the fear of Corona Virus spread by corrupt, extreme liberal media. People can wear a mask, observe social distancing and voting takes at most, a few minutes per person. If Republicans win back the House, retain the Senate and re-elect President Donald Trump, I will push the Republicans and President Donald Trump on social media to enact an Election Integrity Act which forces all states to clean up its voting rolls of dead people and illegals (foreigners). This should not be even a partisan issue if you really want fair and honest elections. In addition, increase penalties for each instance of election fraud to 5 times the current penalties under the law. We need to put teeth into it to make it hard for people to cheat and throw the book at them if they get caught. Democrats have exerted maximum efforts to cheat on a mass scale with their mass mailing in of ballots. That must not be allowed again, in the future. Not ever.

The polls oversample democrats though by large margins. Current party affiliation has republicans +1 over dems. In 2016 dems were +5 over republicans.

The lastest poll on RCP from IBD/TIPP has Biden up +6 in the polls, but they sampled 354 democrats and 318 republicans.

So just like last year we're seeing oversampled polls and if Trump won last year when they were also oversampling dems when party affiliation was at +5 for hillary voters, Biden CAN'T win when its' +1 for republican voters and they're oversampling by the same amount.

There is no such thing as “oversampling” a randomized poll. You may have an issue with the weighting of the poll though.

There's no doubt that there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth no matter who wins. But I don't expect the right to resort to arson and looting if Trump loses. Do you?

If Dems take the streets in cities to riot and protest if Biden loses then they deserve the President they got
