The New York Times is so cute......

Quote from Pa(b)st Prime:

I don't mind opposing viewpoints-just another reason I'm not a Democrat-but partisan stupidity and factual errors bug the shit out of me. Rarely do you post something either compelling or accurate.

Bush isn't the first President "unwanted" at his Party's convention. Lyndon Johnson didn't attend the 1968 convention in Chicago. For obvious well chronicled reasons.

I realize that in modern life everything is now the "best" and "worst" of all time. We're a nation of fucking teenagers. Few things happening are the "worst" of all time.

Is this the worst war of all time? Iraq's not even the worst war being fought at this moment. And as far as American wars it's NOT EVEN CLOSE to the horrors of Vietnam. The second someone says Iraq is the "worst" I know I'm conversing with an idiot.

Is unemployment ANYWHERE NEAR the worst?

Is this stock correction anywhere near the worst?

Is the real estate break the "worst"? Prices are all the way back to...drum roll.....2004 levels.

Are interest rates anywhere near their highest? No they're actually near their lowest.

Is crime anywhere near it's worst? Multi-decade lows.

Is poverty anywhere near it's worst? Not in years.

Are racial tensions anywhere near their worst? Rioting in the streets? No?

Yes we have a high national debt, skyrocketing entitlements, an unending appetite for military commitments and porous borders. I haven't heard Obama so much as MENTION these issues. And you guys have the nerve to call a candidate McSame......

McCain needed you behind the scenes and Romney on his ticket. Imagine Romney schooling Obama on capital during a debate.

It is a shame.

A year or so from now I suspect Obama will be nationalizing everything thing in sight and taxing anything touched by someone who has a six figure income.

Back to topic. I'll proudly feel I contributed to American society if I take out the New York Times someday. By the time I'm organized and equipped to target such enemies of humanity the NYT will already have been extinguished by the ultimate arbiter. Free markets. They're toast.

Yes they are. They may last a little longer than the LA Times. My own local paper, the San Diego U-T, can not find a buyer even while actively shopping itself around.

Don't get me wrong, I like newspapers. I look forward every morning to picking up the WSJ from my apartment front door while I try to hide my underwear clad body from the neighbors. I even like getting the USA Today from a newsstand from time to time to see what's big in American culture. But papers like the NYT and the LA Times are disgusting not just because of their bias, but their denials of bias.

Obama is the same as Hugo Chavez. I just cannot get over the fact that after all the failures of socialism and death and destruction of the past century we are considering one for prez... I read the libtard rag LA Times today [in the donut place], nothing has changed, they publish the same krap they did in the 1950's when I first read one.. I could not read it then... I'm a country boy, I don't resonate with sob story garbage and collectivist moronic ideas.. I would read a paper if it had articles on how to keep whiners off your property maybe :D

I disagree with anyone that says Bush wasn't at the convention because he was unwanted.

There was a potentially DEVASTATING hurricane lerking around.
And he was condemned for not doing enough (which is BULLSHIT) for the last one.

Those are the facts and I dare you to dispute it!

Please. I agree with Pabst 100%, I just wish he and the rest of you could apply that same logic to what Obama is proposing. Calling bush the worst president of all time, and the war in iraq the worse of all the time is ignorant, but so are these rants the obama is going to socialize everything, taxes with be higher than ever, etc etc. Pabst please apply your logic to both sides and we will be in complete agreement.

John ,

I disagree, calling Bush the worst Pres and the Iraq war the worst thing is ignorant.
However, Obama will raise taxes and socialize everything, he has so much as stated it. He said he has a Ten year plan! Because he knows it all can't be done in 8 years. But that is the path he is on.

Oh by the way, for the rest of you people that are not from the NY area.
The NY Times is now known as the NY Obama Times around here.
Might not have reached you people out on the Left Coast.

If you don't believe that Bush was kept away from the convention because the Republican brain trust knew they needed to do everything possible to distance JM from Bush, you're either

a) a liar, or

b) an idiot

Sorry to be so blunt. I happen to think it's (a). In the past few weeks, I've noticed that the far right on here, seemingly growing desperate, is willing to float the most amazing howlers and claim that they actually believe them.

Government has its place, just like the free market does. It is just as ignorant to say Obama is going to socialize everything as it is to say the republicans plan on creating anarchy by deregulating markets (small gov). Why is it so hard for everyone to see that it is THE BALANCE.

I'm sorry but if you don't think the balance between freedom and government are what makes our country great, I really don't have anything more to say to you.

No my friend, I am neither. If you watched the clips of when GW was told of the 9/11 attacks... He was ridiculed for his expression, Like they were trying to imply he didn't give a shit or know what to do. Again with the hurricane 3 years ago. Criticized for not doing anything or doing enough.
I am glad you brought up the comparison of JM and GW(because there is none)but, the left would have tied JM to GW had he showed up at the convention, in a sense, as trying to tell the American people they are one in the same and don't give a shit about the American people or America.
You see your Damned if you do, and Damned if you don't!
Call me cynical, but that is how I see it.
