Seriously? You believe a $100 contribution gave you a "voice?" The limits on contributions to an individual campaign are still in force, in any case.

All that has changed is that corporations are allowed to participate and there is no longer a cu,ulative cap on how much you can contribute.

Somehow, no one thought it was a problem for unions and Soros to be funding all these groups. it was only when the Koch's got involved that money was ruining everything.

Frankly, I am comfortable with a system where anyone can contribute as much as they want to a candidate, providing it is disclosed immediately on the internet. Why should some Kennedy dolt or some idiot like Al Franken have a big advantage because of family money or notoriety?

Honestly, most of the money that is spent on campaigns is wasted anyway. Look at Romney. All that money and he never attacked obama, even as Obama's thugs were accusing him of everything from murder on down. Money will not cure stupid or bad judgment.

The biggest threats to our system are an ignorant electorate, a biased media, vote fraud and the fact that people who pay no taxes can nevertheless vote themselves more benefits.
 
There is no rationalizing they did it so we can do it with regards to big money in politics. It's a huge leap to even make this a constitutional issue, it is in effect the Supreme Court making law and in the worst way there is practically no way to change their decision. Horrible Supreme Court we have. It is the court of and by and for the multi national corporations and individual billionaires.

Yes, seriously. The political landscape in the U.S. has completely changed with the advent of big money donations, and all the unaccountable (and undisclosed) 'dark money' being inserted via 529s, etc. The court decisions such as "Citizens United" have only served to erode representative democracy which is supposed to be representing the 'people'.

It is time to put measures into place that align 'money in politics' to the system that was in place 25 years ago, and require immediate disclosure of all funding... including funding of 'non-affiliated' organizations that put out the bulk of attack ads.

The 'money' problem does not only involve one side of the aisle, but both sides in the U.S.

Let me mention that my $2000 donation at the local Congressional person dinner used to give me a 'voice' and the ability to meet the congressman directly. Now the congressperson does not even hold dinners anymore to collect this paltry-sized donation. He only has dinner with donors who provide $100K or more via 529 and other 'non-affiliated' organizations. So instead of hosting one thousand people who give $2K each at dinners, he only cares about 10 people who give $100K plus.
