I'm a Pitt man too, but I might agree with that. Their defense will have to be phenomenal to get past even the first round without Willie Parker. They have to go to their pass game but Smith is their leading pass blocker and he is out for the first playoff game.

Can't look for Pitt to post a lot of points, so they really need the defense to step up and rattle the Jag's offense. Some key turnovers are crucial because they're gonna need more opportunities to get past the goal line.

The injury list for Pitt is starting to get tiresome.

I've been out of town and didn't get a chance to post on last weekend's wildcard games. I have to say I was happy to see the NY Giants defeat TB. I was really pissed when Gruden sat his starters and gave away that Sf game, so this is payback in my eyes. The Giants manned up and went all out against the Pats, even though they had nothing to gain and plenty to lose. I started this season thinking Giant's coach Tom Coughlin would be fired, but he has done a good job. Guess no one will be too interested in listening to Tiki now. He is old news, and Coughlin is riding high.

I expected the Jags to beat Pittsburg again, but they sure made it close after looking like it would be a blowout.

I've never thought much of SD coach Norv Turner as a coach, but he must have done something at halftime of their game against the Titans. They could dent the Tennessee D in the first half, but moved the ball effectively in the second. Maybe Norv is the answer after all.

What can I say about the Skins? If they score after that bizarre kickoff recovery, they are playing Dallas this weekend. Instead, they suffer another red zone seize-up and then seem to totally give up. News today that Coach Joe Gibbs is retiring.

We'll take a look at this weekend's games later.

The gulls are charmed. Last year all dallas needed was to make one field goal. This year all the skins needed to do was make one field goal.

I'm a gulls fan and I just shook my head at their dumb luck.

On a bright note, the gulls defense is playing pretty hot about now.
 
Let's take a quick look at this weekend's playoff games. In real life, I wouldn't bet on any of these games, as they don't fit my style. I'll pick them for fun.

First up is Seattle at GB, with GB an 8 point favorite. Seems like a lot to me, as Seattle looked pretty good against a tough Redskins squad last week. Seattle has been a dreadful road team this season however, and its schedule has basically been filled with cupcakes. I like GB here giving the points.

NE gives 13 1/2 to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jags are the hottest team in the league, the Pats are the best. The two couldn't be more different. The Pats feature future Hall of Famers Brady, Moss and Belichick and have one of the best passing attacks in league history. The Jags are a distinctly blue collar outfit that make their living the old-fashioned way, running the ball and playing smashmouth. Don't believe me, you can ask the Steelers. As much as I admire the Jags, I don't see their pass defense standing up to the Pats attack. If they fall behind early, the Jags are toast. Take the Pats here.

On Sunday, we get Indy hosting SD as a 9 point favorite. The Bolts game against the Titans started ugly and ended well for them, but they will need all their weapons against the Colts and they will be missing star TE Gates. Indy had a nightmare game against SD earlier and still almost won. I don;t see this one being that close. Indy.

Perhaps the most interesting game features Dallas hosting the NY Giants as 7 1/2 point favorites. The two teams have been on opposite trajectories recently, with the Cowboys looking very lame and the Giants playing NE even then winning on the road at TB. TO didn't practice yesterday but who doubts he will play and play well come Sunday? Can the Giants get up enough for a supreme effort three weeks in a row? Without Shockey? They've fooled me before, but I say probably not. Taking Dallas.

I'm with you on this one.

The close one is GB covering 8 points, but I'd still bet GB even giving 8.

NE won't have any problems covering at 13 1/2. I'd even take them giving 16. Pats passing is gonna pick them apart.

Not only is SD not gonna cover 9 points, but they are gonna lose the game.

NY is gonna get rocked. I'm guessing close to 21 points.
 
The only game I really care about is, you guessed it, Seattle and Green Bay.

This will be a game of redemption. Matt wants (will) to make up for his interception in OT a few years ago, and Alexander wants to (will) prove to the world he's not washed up yet.

Seattle wins a bloody game outright.

I wonder what the weather will be in GB and if it will be a factor.

Seahawks are paying the price for letting Hutch go. No run game this year, with or without Alexander and playing one of the league's easiest schedules.
 
If and it's a big "IF" that if those JAGS can run the ball against PATS thereby keeping the PATS offense off the field maybe my JAGS have a chance against the juggernaut PATS.

Can the N.Y. Giants win another road game. The ONLY road lost this year was vs them there Cowboys!!!!!!
 
Running the ball isnt' enough, they will have to score points.

The Jags offense can't hold the ball the entire game and the Patriots don't need much time to put points on the board.

Unless the weather is terrible Pat 34 Jags 10.
