The National Football League: 2009 edition

Outstanding to see the AAA back in the NFL sport's picking business. Definitely looking forward to great NFL analysis by the AAA for the 2009 NFL season.

As far as the first week of the NFL goes got the Titans +6 and this weekend Dallas -5 but laying points on the road is frighting I should know cause Bama -6 this last weekend barely covered against V. Tech.

I don't think taking the points against the Steelers is a terrible bet. Titans are a team I have a lot of respect for.

I have a hard time with more than two or three picks per week, at least where real money is involved. In fact, I think I got a little excited and overdid it this week. Probably should have only gone with my best play, giving the points with the Ravens. I note that line has moved quite a bit as money must have poured in favoring the Ravens.

I want to like GB a lot but I must confess I have a bad feeling about that game. I also cannot believe I didn't go with the Pats. Buffalo appears to be coming apart at the seams. They cut their starting LT today. I don't know if it was to save money or because he wasn't getting the job done. Of course, the Pats let a former Pro Bowl DE go when they traded Richard Seymour to Oakland.
 
I mentioned the spread widening considerably in the KC at Baltimore game, from 10 to 13 or so. It could go out even more. This provides a very good value proposition to a bettor.

Let's say you immediately ran down to the sandwich shop and layed $100 on the Ravens when you saw the 10 point spread. Let's say it goes out to 14 by game time. This gives you the chance to put on a spread by putting down another wager taking the points. No matter what happens, the most you can lose is the vig, usually 10%. If the final score is within the range, ie if Baltimore wins by >10 but <14, you win both bets. If one side pushes, you win the other, which is why the final line will probably involve a half point.

I wouldn't do this for one or two points, but if you are getting four, it's tempting. The beauty is that there is a really good chance the score will end up in the double payoff range or "middle." This is the one exception to my rule of no exotic bets, eg parlays.
 
It's impossible to beat the spread in the NFL. It's futile to even try.

Jay Cutler is a big bag of bleeding vaginal discharge.

After watching him again for the first time since he was a Junior at Vandy I feel the same way. The guy's more trouble than he's worth. I don't know what all the fuss is about.
 
So I was @ the Browns/Minn game.

It was like 2 different games...

1st half: Browns D looked stellar & kept AP in check to 25 total rushing yards.

2nd half: Since our offense was horrendous, being on the field so long caught up to the D and AP was off to the races.

Out here the talk was all about Quinn and I'm not impressed. I've said all along that DA would be the QB here if Edwards could catch the ball again (he had a nice drop on Quinn today too). Most of Quinn's deep balls were not even in the area of the WR. The 'dink and dunk' is all we had on offense and it was terrible.

Overall it will be a long year again in C-Town b/c our offense is terrible. If you have any Cleveland players on your fantasy team, I suggest getting on that waiver wire Monday morning and seeing what's out there.

Maybe I'm jumping the gun but after watching this product for so many years of the same junk, gets a little old.

Good news was that LeBron was at the game (pimping his new movie) and wasn't wearing any Minnesota Vikings stuff!
