The Movie Thread

Quote from lornz:

...Now I feel like watching old Bruce Willis movies; Those were the days!

"Die Hard (the first)" still holds up well.
The Big Eighties... big hair, big egos, big cocaine!

The iguana scene was my favorite too. The movie is quite funny, I enjoyed it a lot.

Better to have in context with the movie, but what the hell, it's classic:

I guess if you flip your mindset to that but I don't think that it was supposed to be a comedy was it?

Quote from bronks:

I went into it thinking of a drama movie when in fact it's more of a comedy than anything else. Once I settled on that mindset, Nick Cage's over-the-top performance fit right in. Took me about 20 minutes of bewilderment to get to that point.

Thanks, bronks. That scene is a blast.

@Fireplace: There are several hilarious moments in the film. I don't care much about labels. Life isn't classified as drama or comedy, it just oscillates between the two. I feel the same can be said for this movie.

It seemed to have been mis-categorized as a thriller/suspense. Whether purposely or not ... but IDK, since it's also that to a degree. Guess it's a hybrid. All I can think of. Probably why it doesn't work for everybody.

Yeah, what you said... :p

Well I'm off to watch "Hard Times" with Charles Bronson and James Cobern and that Ernie Shavers lookalike. I should just buy this DVD as I watch it every coupla years. Netflix took a while to dig it up from another service center out of my area. Because of that, they sent out the next video in my cue while they hunted it down... so now I have two movies at the same time. A simple thing like that is great customer service.

I like Netflix.

"Inside Job" ....see it and learn who runs America and how taxpayers are held hostage by wall st lobbyists and the
republican whores they buy.

for those who don't mind a French movie (subtitled) these are quite good gangster movies available via Netflix:

Mesrine: Killer Instinct
and Part 2
