Garland’s announcement comes as the Biden administration is seeking ways to speed up and expand efforts to reform policing. The Justice Department has launched sweeping federal investigations into police departments in Minneapolis, Louisville and Phoenix, but those probes require extensive resources and take up to 18 months to complete.

Police reform experts said the collaborative reform program could help local police improve their relationship with the community, while avoiding the legally onerous and costly court-approved consent decrees that have punctuated federal intervention in other jurisdictions.

Over the past few years—even decades—the Justice Department has tried to implement police reforms in cities from Miami to Los Angeles. Under the tenure of Attorney General Eric Holder, the DOJ charged more than 400 law enforcement officials and corrections officers for violating constitutional rights.

While these are important steps, a new investigation from The Marshall Project finds that many of these reforms don't have a lasting effect. In some cases, very few changes are made.

Are you aware of assertions of efforts by soros to embed elements into the american justice aparatus that may be amenable and capable of advancing his agenda? Do you believe this notion or do you find it to be an unsupportable postulation?

Man o man, you are salty. Tell ‘em why you’re mad, player…
Just speaking facts my friend. You dont see me posting the bull shit right wing attacks or saying he's worst than Trump. As a democrat president he fucking sucks, probably the worst ever.Jon Stewert is doing more to get shit done than Biden.

When Biden losses because more progressive and black voters stayed home than in 2016 you'll see I was just stating the facts. You don't even have to wait that long just look at his worst than Trump approval ratings, which is only possible if millions of Dems think he is doing a horrendous job.

I know you're trolling Tony here but c'mon, like 60% is kind of BS (red; reasons I think it's not on Biden or not so great, green on Biden). FWIW; I could've come up w/a better list.

inflation redux act; poor finish from where it started (BBB), still fair enough, good stuff in there.

CHIPS act; On paper good but oversight and guarantees aren't there, likely to get abused

pact act: who dat? That the burn pits one? Thank you Jon Stewart if so

bipartisan gun law: I'll take whatever small victory, even if it's on the back of dead children

killed al-qaeda leader; these are always no brainers as long as GOP isn't in power (Trump let this guy slide if I recall over not being "popular enough"). Brownie points for no collateral though. As an aside, Biden ending Trump's wanton drone use is a major victory IMO that could've made this list.

gas prices plummeting; nat. reserve was good for what 10 cents? Unless going begging to butcher MBS resulted in a price dump, as far as I know it's refinery capacity....so Biden taking a victory on this is BS and you know it

job numbers; we like to cheer on this one but we all know it's on the back of record job losses post covid. Still I suppose he could've found a way to screw it and he didn't but this is the expected natural outcome regardless

low unemployment; Low since Obama, Trump tried to claim this as well, I'm guessing we're back to pre-covid. Thank the insatiable consumerism for this one. Also seems redundant (I get it's not, as one can have high unemployment w/climbing numbers)

Katanji; no brainer like AlQaeda dead leader, still Obama fucked it up so fair I suppose

UA support; Yeah, he's been on the ball for sure

Expansion of NATO: He reaffirmed solidarity/confidence and can claim a win here

Rescue plan; good move and what most of us wanted to see more of. Reduced childhood poverty but it's all over now.

infra; I haven't read it honestly tho some privatization of roadways is in there I understand? Sad that it had to be on the corpse of BBB. Seems like bridges and roadways are taken care of, maybe some charging infra?

elec. count act; is that to prevent another coup attempt by making VOTUS ceremonial and securing electors sent? Good move but don't know how much BIden's involved in.

In any case, I don't really agree over-policing is the solution either. The US is too much of a police state as is for my liking already. COVID has put economic stress on millions, doubt the rise in crime these last 2 yrs is a US-only thing. What needs further analysis is how those countries w/better COVID safety nets did crime wise compared to our corporate-centric CARES Act.

over-policing after a shooting in park. Sure it's reasonable to expect more cops in an area after some crime but not if it's more of these types:

Andrew Yang is starting a third party with plans for that party's nominee to be in the 2024 ballot.Probably a good chance it will Yang himself.Joe would be really fucked than.

Fuck Joe Biden.Hell would freeze over before I vote for that piece of shit again.
giant faux pas. Dude could've said "we're going to fund programs to improve recruitment, programs to increase outreach, programs to have better screening, programs to decrease lethality, etc...". When ppl hear "funding the popo" all they see is "oh great, more HS insecure bullies on power trips armed to the gills"

GED and 22 week Police Academy .And Biden wants to put another 100,000 of these motherfuckers on the streets and give them 37 billion dollars.Fuck Joe Biden.Green Party 2024!!
