The most excellent way to pick great stocks

Anyone who was that annoyed by his self-kidding use of the word "huge" would hopefully be mature enough to
a. Avoid his threads
b. Add him to Ignore List
c. Both of the Above

The fact that you substitute # @ * for swear word letters doesn't make your remarks any less profanity. Hopefully you will get beyond the juvenile "I can kick the shit out of you" mentality before they ever award you the academic title of "Dr."

Different strokes for different folks :). Besides, there's nothing wrong with a good ole fist fight. If you Americans had a few more of those in high-schools, maybe fewer morons would take to the guns instead and you'd not have school shootings. Where I grew up, if you are bullied, you go work out and then stand up to them via a nice fist-fight. That's how men grow up to be men. I am not aware of any school shooting on the terrain of the former USSR of the kind you have here. Fights? LOTS. You go to any decent dance club and if there's no fight within a couple hours people get bored. I'm sorry, but I guess that's just my background :) I feel privileged to have grown up that way though.

You are correct. But even on the really bad market days, there are hundreds of stocks setting new 52 week highs. So, all you really need is a model that identifies the stocks with this momentum and those with the statistical inclination to continue this momentum.

Yes...it is a stock market, but what it really is is a market of stocks.

I thought 54 stocks hit new highs on friday.

I can't stand jackasses who start fights in night clubs. If I go out, it's to have a good time and to get laid. Anyone whose idea of a good time is starting fights at nightclubs, like a 6 year old at the jungle jim, is an anti-social, juvenile moron that belongs in prison. BTW, if someone likes fighting men so much, they'd probably prefer prison over a night club anyway.

From BigCharts.com:

Sorry, "Jack" may have been wrong. Barchart.com shows the following:

New Highs: NYSE - 54 / Nasdaq - 40 / AMEX - 3 / OTC - 15

New Lows: NYSE - 47 / Nasdaq - 62 / AMEX - 8 / OTC - 21

Hmmm...now what source do I trust?

My team is currently very busy testing other stuff, but I would like to test the whole thing. I have complete fundamental data on SP1500 stocks since 1998. I will have to organize historic earnings forecasts. Then we can test this strategy and variations.

Maybe we can gather some ideas on such a thing. Maybe we start a thread dedicated to such a project. As I said in earlier posts I would be very much interested in a market neutral approach, thus we need to cover the short side. I would prefer using single stocks to using futures.

Would anybody be interested in such a venture?

peace

no

No I didn't. I said shove your wharton MBA up your @##.
#1. In case you haven't realized this, what you learn in MBA is a tiny portion of what is really out there to be learned, a much bigger chunk of which will be taught in PhD. In fact, that's why I went for a PhD - I felt the MBA didn't teach me @#$. By the way, I'd hire a PhD out of the lowest ranked univerisity over a Wharton MBA.
#2. Adjust it for the body weight. 171 and 365 vs what? 240 and 385? Unless you weigh less then 180 (VERY doubtful). And if things go the way they have been, I'll be up to 400 by April 15 (the benchpress meet competition I plan to attend).

I've also heard that an ant can lift many times its body weight. This too, is very impressive.
