you pointed out why really. For conservatives they only have FOX to tune into really so they attract plenty of viewers (I dont count OAN). For the other side, CNN and MSNBC basically compete with each other and split the demographic as well as the competition for network tv viewing on ABC, NBC and CBS. I think FOX goes for the entertainment value as well if you look at the fact The Five, Jesse Watters and Guttfeld have top shows and they are basically entertainment talk shows while CNN/MSNBC still pushes Don Lemon and Rachel Maddow who are as entertaining as a potted plant but pretend to be actual news hours versus non stop commentary.

FOX themselves admitted they are there for entertainment and their programming feeds perfectly into that with their line up. You get exactly what you want from FOX when you tune in. Having these programs from 5PM to 11PM and no other competition makes it easy for them to get consistnetly high viewers at each hour slot. As long as their is strong conservative support for trump and backlash agaisnt biden, FOX can hold on to its viewers for the enxt 2 years easily.

Cuomo was annoying as fuck and Maddow spends her whole show acting like she solved the greatest political mystery in the world and is allowing us commoners in on her great secret. AC is sand in a bottle and Don Lemmon constantly smirks at the screen with some amazing criticism of the GOP and it is wash rinse repeat.

To be honest both CNN/MSNBC and FOX are feeding into the lowest common demoninator of the social media sheep population and too much to watch and I decided I dont need cable for news.

Of those demo-aged viewers surveyed who identified as Democrats, 39% chose Fox News, 31% chose MSNBC and 30% chose CNN for programming from 8 p.m. ET to 11 p.m. ET.

In total-day viewership, Fox News grabbed 42% of Democrats aged 25-54, CNN nabbed 33% and MSNBC got 25%.
