The Monaco thread

I looked at 4BR apartments in Monaco this week, rock bottom was 12/15000 euro per month, didn't look nice at all. 20/23 seemed liveable, and some rentals go over 100k a month. Not exactly a budget place indeed...
International School of Monaco looks great though and is cheaper than many of the schools I checked, including the one my kids attend, in a far less glamorous place.
I have one month to either pay for next year tuition or find us a new place to live...
 
Monaco, don't, I was there today for business, it's changed and not for the better. Was talking to some expats at Cafe de Paris who have been living there for five years or so, they confirmed the past year things have become worse.

All of Europe is going down the toilet. Revive the term Eurotrash.

They need to build walls and enforce laws to keep Africans and Middle Easterners from randomly wandering around and entering those countries with their extreme values and somewhat low morals and ideals and views o_O,

Paris and all of France will soon look like Tijuana, Mexico...if the current rate and current state of affairs continues.
Everyone ...around the World, needs to...Make Their Country Great Again.

I know, they just had Top Marques, I'm fascinated if they take it all down and put it all back up again or leave it there between. Frieze in London take over Regent's Park the whole month for a 3day event, it's seriously annoying.

Eurotrash was a funny tv series, they revived it for a Brexit special. I've heard the stories about Paris, in Brussels a few weeks back and they are scared senseless when the UK leaves. Politicians don't seem to understand, likely selectively, Newton's Third Law but the low cost labour keeps the economy going, until it ends up like Dubai.

They were explaining how the Russians and Middle Eastern residents left Monaco and are only now slowly coming back. The UK is going down the same route but they prop up a healthy size of the economy, you can see in London the downturn is starting. Without the wealthy non-doms it all stops.

Monaco is now being over commercialised, too much construction, land reclaiming, likely because of the above. It also needs some healthy renovating, given the tax situation it makes sense they are funding via land leasing and sales. Which means it starts to lose haven status.

While I generally agree with your statement it doesn't apply in the case of Monaco as expats built it eg "The Merchant of death" Basil Zaharoff and Aristotle Onassis...
