"Baldwin retired from the Bond pit several years ago with about 30 million. He promptly sunk almost all of it in a publicly traded tech (forgot the name, it's history) and lost it all. Now he's back in the pit trying to scrape out a living. Very Sad."
I have to say, I am not sure I believe this. For one thing, I remember a Baldwin Development (or Construction) company near the CBOT. I was told he owned that. Also, I was told he owned the building that the company was in. If this is the case, I don't believe anyone here knows all that he owns or has interests in.
In addition, he only had a 30 million net worth after all those years in the pit and being one of the biggest players there? I find that hard to believe.

Boy, this one hurts!! Only because it's so very true.
TWICE in my life at 27 and again at 43, I had over a million dollars in cash, real money, in my account(s). At 27 I made the mistake of trying to turn a $1,000,000 into $5,000,000 (what I thought was a 'true' fortune) by buying back into the business that had enriched me. Bankruptcy followed within 5 years.
At 43, I had accumulated almost $2.0m (including a house I'd paid off in previous years). LOST EVERY penny, including the house, through ARROGANT trading (I had the money, it can only increase!), lawyers (business partner 'checked-out') and self-indulgence.
Once we earn back some portion of a small fortune, it (along with the stake from which I trade now) will be (and is) protected from me, my stupidity and the market!
As a bumper sticker in Houston read many years ago:
"Please God, just one more boom. I won't piss it away this time!"
Good-Luck. Read the books (Elder as well Schwager, LeFevre as well as Cramer, etc.) and trade small, protect what you have, and honor the stops!!
There are some really good interviews in this one too - Mark Cook, Steve Cohen, Ari Kiev, etc. Almost everyone seems to pan this one and say it's not nearly as good as the first two. I respectfully disagree. Just fished it out of my storage unit yesterday to reread.Quote from sKaLpZ:
Hey Candle, maybe this has already been mentioned but let's not forget there is a third book in the Market Wizard series, titled, Stock Market Wizards: Interviews with America's Top Stock Traders.
I just got the book and am starting to read it. Even though I trade money not stocks I am sure there are some good tips on trading in general.

Please look through your stuff, and if you find interview books, please list them... if they are out of print, I am happy to buy them from you for a good price...
