At its peak there were tens of thousands of active Democrat/KKK members across the country. Entire state governments were run by them with KKK membership being prerequisite for holding political office in democrat dominated areas. Ask me to cite an example, I am loaded for bear though so fair warning.

The current "modern" KKK consists of a handful of people concentrated mostly in the mid-atlantic region and their composite political affiliation is not clear. A few nutters in sheets. Hardly comparable to the vast KKK organization the Democratic Party funded and ran for a *century*.

Sounds like you are ignorant of recent history... In 2010 & 2012 they ran KKK members for local and state offices in North Carolina as Democrats. During the 1990s at least 13 Democratic members of the NC state legislature had KKK ties and background. Other states are similar.
