"The Liberty Amendments: Restoring the American Republic"

Yes, and if we were all as perfect as you, Lucrum, none of these problems would have cropped up in the first place.

I don't want to bore you guys with too much detail, but we sure could stand a revision of the First Amendment.

And if we could spell out in the Constitution how candidates qualify to run for federal office, where the money can come from for their campaigns -- presumably tax dollars only-- , and limiting the election period and possibly outlawing all forms of paid political advertising. We might not have to burn our Constitution and start over after all. :D

We just might be able to make that tired old document work for us once again.

Sarcasm I presume.
We don't have to be "perfect". We just need to be practical, pragmatic, realistic, frugal and have leaders who think/plan beyond their next election.

I believe that is the intent of the ideas in Levin's latest work.

Precisely. If our leaders would stop trampling the constitution and exhibit even an ounce of integrity/statesmanship. We probably wouldn't be in a position where we need the aforementioned amendments.

Indeed!

Term limits of 12 years is too many.

Congress should be elected for only ONE TERM. That way, they would steal all they could for themselves and would have no need to burden the country with "programs"... which cost much more.

If the term limit is too short you'd be institutionalizing inexperience.

And how is all the "experience" of our current career politicians working out for us now?

IOW just how much "experience" is needed to create one cluster fuck after another?

I wish we WOULD institutionalize "inexperience".

Congress should consider and enact that which is "best for the country"... all that's needed for that is die-hard for support of the US Constitution and a bit of common sense.

All the other bullshit career politicos do is self-serving and harmful to the country.
