Latino Leaders: Trump Did Not Win 29 Percent of Hispanic Vote
by Suzanne Gamboa

Latino leaders are refusing to accept exit poll data showing President-elect Donald Trump won 29 percent of the Hispanic vote Tuesday.

Instead the leaders said they stand by the findings of Latino Decisions polling firm, whose data showed Trump a record low 18 percent of Latinos voted for Trump.

"We strongly dispute exit poll reports that suggest Trump support for the Latino community exceeded that of Mitt Romney in 2012," Janet Murguía, president of the National Council of La Raza, said at a Thursday news conference in Washington, D.C. Several other leaders were at the news conference and echoed her remarks.

Election Day exit polling showed the 13 million Latinos who turned out made up 11 percent of the electorate. The polling showed Latinos broke 65 percent for Clinton to 29 percent for Trump. In 2012, President Barack Obama got 71 percent of the Latino vote, while Romney finished with 27 percent.

The groups also criticized media for accepting and reporting the exit poll numbers.

"It is an insult to us as Latinos to keep hearing the media ignoring empirical data that was presented by Latino Decisions and representing an alternative number that we do not accept and we reject," Murguía said.

MULTIPLE exit polls showed that Trump won 29% of the Hispanic vote.

La Raza executive may wish this is not true... but it is.

apparently even la raza doesn't realize understand the Catholic lash. Obamacare and Federal govt morons tried to get the church to provide abortifacients. It was an incredibly arrogant power bunch of people flexing their Federal Govt muscle.

The Catholic Church flexed their muscles back and got some of the vote away from democrats by focusing on the the taking of an innocent human lives many of them hispanic and black.

I can't tell you how cool I think that was. Had Obama left the Church alone... I suspect they would have left democrats alone.

Even at 29 % its less than the majority, less than most, less than bush got and 2 % more than Romney got .Democrats have a lot of problems but Hispanics and African Americans voting GOP is at the bottom of the list.

The trend of more Latinos and Blacks voting Republican rather than Democratic is solidly in the middle of the list. This is supposed to be a core Democratic constituency whose vote can be counted on.

The further left your party goes, the more you risk turning away those core constituencies. The media would have us believe that all Hispanic's favor blanket amnesty and that every African American is a BLM supporter...Sorry, but that couldn't be further from the truth (perhaps you don't even know that). Taking radical positions on core issues does not bring in more people to your party.

44 % of Hispanics voted for Bush and 29 and 27 % voted for Trump and Romney.Trump and Romney got 6 and 8 % of the black vote IIRC.McCain,Romney and Trump got a smaller % of Black and Hispanic votes than Bush.I don't see that as a trend of more Latinos and Blacks voting Republican.

In this election 12 to 14% of the black voters cast a ballot for Trump according to exit polls. The increase to 29% of Latinos is also obviously higher than recent elections. This should be a disturbing trend for the Democratic party in context of their perspective of how "racist" Trump is.

Trump got a 2 % increase of the black and Hispanic vote from Romney and a smaller % than Bush in both groups. Not a disturbing trend at all imo.

The Bush election was quite a while ago...

Why don't you compare it to some elections in the 1800s.

"Clinton needed extremely strong support from African-American voters to try to offset Trump’s margin among whites. She did win 88 percent of the black vote to just 8 percent for Trump."

"Trump claimed 29 percent of the Hispanic vote on Tuesday compared to Romney's 27 percent in 2012. With blacks, exit polls show Trump claimed 8 percent of the vote to the previous Republican nominee's 6 percent."
