Quote from Magna:
These bozos don't represent Democrats or liberals any more than a march by the Ku Klux Klan or the American Nazi Party represent Hapaboy, AAAintheBeltway or the Republicans. You know, those fine upstanding Compassionate Conservatives marching with signs like "Keep America White", "Send All Blacks Back to Africa", "The Holocaust Never Happened", and "Let's Do the Jewish Problem Right This Time". Fringe is fringe and for the most part it's a blessing that we have the right of Free Speech in this country.
You wrote almost exactly what I was going to respond to Rearden about liberals; about the KKK, neo-nazis, Black Panthers and others ...

When observing these colorful figures marching, one could say that they are anti-Bush, anti-Iraq-invasion but certainly not anti-war - by supporting the other side. In times of war, this could sometimes be interpreted as treason, but with the US as the aggressor, there is no imminent national threat.
However, their political views might be said to be somewhat leftist - perhaps not everyone, because of common views only evident on one issue here. I didn't think US liberals (politically) were the same as communism, nor socialist. Rearden just loves to stir up a fuzz about US liberalism, but agrees on many US liberalist views - if I remember correctly from some other posts.
