Bullshit. The government already makes more than the oil companies per gallon of gas sold. Didn't you know that rougly 1/2 of the price of gas is tax?
Also, for the 90% or so of the tax burden which is federal, why should the citizens look to the private sector when there is oil washing up on their shores??? They pay the federal government a huge slice of their blood, sweat, and tears. 1/2 of the money they pay for gasoline goes to the government, not BP.
Whether or not BP is responsible is irrelevant. The citizens pay the government, they look to the government for a solution. Goverment has failed to deliver one...
