That is simply incorrect, my friend, and erroneous information. American Jews are certainly not by majority Ashkenazi Jews. I do not have the time right now to dig up stats that I came across a while ago but I try to remember to follow up. That this is an entirely wrong claim should already be crystal clear given Ashkenazi Jews have indeed scored relatively higher on IQ standardized testing than other ethnic groups. How come then that American Jews as aggregate score on average lower than Asian Americans in middle, high school, and college entrance exams? Should already be a red flag for you and point to mistakes in your wiki article. Oh wait, Ashkenazi Jews do not need to study in institutions, they are home schooled and hence escape the statistics, thats it right?

If you look at this "volpunter" guy's past posts you see that he spends his life purposely picking fights, which then devolve into him calling everyone names and bragging about how rich he is and what a loser his current opponent is. Very reminiscent of 6th grade, or a certain American politician who's popular at the moment. Come to think of it, shouldn't you be out running a campaign volump, not wasting your time with all these losers and Jews on Elitetrader? In any event, probably best just realizing the guy leads a miserable life no matter how rich he is, and leaving him alone with his rants while feeling just the littlest bit sorry for him having to live with all that venom careening around his head all the time.
I never bragged about my wealth. What are you talking about? Do I need to apologize that I earned a solid living and enjoyed my many years at the sell side and hedge funds? Or is it wrong to point out the true ills in a society? I only argue with those who represent points I fundamentally disagree with. What value are you adding? i've dealt quite a bit with jews and teochew (the chinese minority to which belongs Li Ka Shing, very succesful in business all over South East Asia ) and you find many similarities in both groups, especially when it comes to communitarism and nepotism, which i don't mind btw.
Which reminds me that teochew (or Chaozhou, other transliterrations/names for the same group are seen sometimes as well) seem pretty proud of beeing called the Jews of China, although I hear less nowadays of the jewish inspired litterature in China (like "do business like a jewish person" etc...) not so sure if it's still as popular as it was 8-10 years ago.
The link between the two groups is not only about beeing business savy, family and community relationships have similarities as well.
From reading the links below, it seems other southern china groups dispute claim the appellation "Jews of China". But from what I understand Hakka have more the reputation of beeing educated and fine with government or corporate careers (Lee Kwan Yew in Singapore and Thaksin Shinawatra in Thailand are two huge success stories, and not coming from poor families) while the teochew are supposed to be hardcore entrepreneurs (in Thailand there are plenty of aging very succesful teochew who reached the country a couple/few decades earlier dirt poor, and there are plenty of similar stories in South China), although the new and already well off generations should spend more time on the university benches.
Again the richest man in Asia, Lee Ka Shing, is Teochiew, Wonder if he and his folks are also hated by our friendly Volpunter.

I do not hate anyone, but I resent folks that amass wealth in dishonest and outright illegal ways. If you are in the slightest suggesting that Li Ka Shing (you even got his name wrong) amassed his wealth legally and with moral business practices then I can with confidence say that you know nothing whatsoever what is happening in and around China. Or take Stanley Ho for example. It is entirely clear to everyone in Hong Kong that someone who has held a virtual gambling monopoly (monopoly gambling license) for decades in Macao that such monopolist has been in bed with regulators and the government. In case you still do not get it, in Asia (ex Japan) it is all about relationships. Nothing ethical nor is it related to business acumen. Same applies in Silicon Valley. Those who maintain the best relationships with VC firms are the ones whose ideas get funded. A huge majority are Jews. And it is not because they are more intelligent than others, no that they are harder working. It is because of a nepotistic culture within Jewish circles.
I guess Warren Buffett is my role model, not that he has always been 100% honest or clear (nobody is) but someone who pays out of his own pocket for company paid postage stamps when used for personal purposes, someone who lives a modest life style despite his financial wealth, someone who has no inclination to inherit to some spoiled brats but donate billions to worthy causes (not disguised donations that actually benefit Israel or Jewish run or supported organizations) then that person comes across as being honest and in my book he fully deserves his wealth. If you compare that with a lot of the Jewish entrepreneurs then the contrast could not be more explicit. You are hopefully not suggesting that Zuckerberg's success is based on pure intelligence, hard work, and luck, do you? He screwed over many people and booted them out in extremely ugly and unethical ways. I could easily amass a list of the thousand wealthiest Jews in American finance and business and I am pretty sure not even 10 would pass the same ethical scrutiny that Warren Buffett passes.

Yeah, same things all over the world. I do admire success and people astute enough to build an influential network (networking is unfortunately not my forte).
Stanley Ho married into an influential portuguese family when Portugal was still running Macau. Smart move, and probably not an easy feat.
