I lived through the time... I saw everyone's standard of living improve massively around me.
Things sucked under Carter. Bruce Springsteen got famous singing about how bad things sucked for the average tax paying american.

But maybe the massive improvement was not because of wage growth, but because of cost declines... oh, wait, nope, you've argued there has been massive inflation.
